NBA Shoot Around
''NBA Countdown'', branded for sponsorship purposes as ''NBA Countdown Presented by DraftKings Sportsbook'' for ESPN editions and ''NBA Countdown Delivered by Papa John's'' for ABC editions respectively, is a pregame television show airing prior to National Basketball Association (NBA) telecasts on ABC and ESPN. The networks have aired NBA games since 2002. Typically, the program airs 30 or 60 minutes prior to the game. ESPN2 or another ESPN network may also be used as an overflow channel for the show. History 2002–2003 ABC and ESPN gained rights to air NBA games prior to the start of the 2002-03. At the time, ABC Sports operated as a separate entity from ESPN even though both were owned by Disney. Initially, the NBA pregame show was known as ''NBA Shootaround''. The ESPN version was originally hosted by Kevin Frazier, with analyst Tim Hardaway. Malika Rose Andrews McMenamin (born January 27, 1995) is an American sports journalist and reporter. She is the host of ''NBA Today'', which replaced ''The Jump (ESPN talk show), The Jump''. She joined ESPN in October 2018 as an online NBA writer and debuted as its youngest sideline reporter for a broadcast during the 2020 NBA Bubble. ''NBA Showtime'' was the pregame show aired before each ''NBA on NBC'' telecast. The program, a half-hour in length, began during the 1990–91 NBA season, and was initially hosted by Bob Costas. Costas left in the mid-1990s, and became lead play-by-play voice of ''The NBA on NBC'' in 1997. Hannah Storm replaced Costas and hosted ''Showtime'' until Ahmad Rashad replaced her as host of the pregame show when Storm went on maternity leave in 2001. 2003 NBA Finals
The 2003 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) 2002–03 season, and the culmination of the season's playoffs. The Western Conference champion San Antonio Spurs played the Eastern Conference champion New Jersey Nets for the title, with the Spurs holding home court advantage. The series was played under a best-of-seven format. The Spurs defeated the Nets to win the series 4–2 for their second championship. ''College GameDay'' (branded as ''ESPN College GameDay covered by State Farm'' for sponsorship reasons) is an ESPN program that covers college basketball and is a spin-off of the successful college football version. Since debuting on January 22, 2005, it airs on ESPN Saturdays in the conference play section of the college basketball season at 10 or 11 A.M. ET at a different game site each week. Before 2015, the college basketball version always appeared at the ESPN '' Saturday Primetime'' game location. Thomas Byron Tolbert Jr. (born October 16, 1965) is an American sports broadcaster and former professional basketball player. He played a total of seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
