N2O Records
N2O Records (Nitrous Oxide Entertainment) was founded in 1997 with the first DJ compilation ''Home Invasion Vol. 1'' CD/LP of Los Angeles DJs that produce harder sounding electronic, drum and bass, breakbeat and hardcore techno. The label has managed to re-invent itself from a jungle/drum and bass/turntablism focused label into a rock and remix label. Among the highlighted releases of N2O Records is the debut solo album of Sid Wilson (Slipknot), #0, DJ Starscream's ''The New Leader'' CD/LP and Omar Rodríguez-López's solo album ''Calibration'' (lead guitarist of The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In, De Facto). The Mars Volta
The Mars Volta is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 2001. The band's only constant members are Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, producer, direction) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals, lyrics), whose partnership forms the core of the band. were a Japanese electronic music duo consisting of guitarist and vocalist Michiyuki Kawashima and bassist and programmer Masayuki Nakano. They were signed to Sony Music Entertainment Japan, with whom they released all of their albums in Japan. De Facto (alternatively spelt as DeFacto) is an American dub music, dub reggae band which has included Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Omar Rodríguez-López, Isaiah "Ikey" Owens and Jeremy Ward (musician), Jeremy Ward. Biography The band began as small jam sessions after At the Drive-In shows. The original band consisted of Rodríguez-López, Bixler-Zavala, and Ward playing local shows around their hometown, El Paso, Texas. Bixler-Zavala said, "Yeah, actually, we used to be called the Sphinktators, that was early De Facto, just more rock." Rodríguez-López was the vocalist of the Sphinktators and remembers, "We used psychedelic sounds, Cedric played the bass, Jeremy played guitar, and Ralph Jasso played drums." At the Drive-In was an American post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 1994. The band's most recent line-up consisted of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, vocals), Paul Hinojos (bass), Tony Hajjar (drums) and Keeley Davis (guitar, vocals). After several early line-up changes, the band solidified into a five-piece, consisting of Bixler-Zavala, Rodríguez-López, Jim Ward (musician), Jim Ward, Hinojos and Hajjar. At the Drive-In released three studio albums and five extended play, EPs before breaking up in 2001. ''Calibration (Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far)'' is the fifth studio album by Omar Rodríguez-López, and the fourth released in the "Amsterdam series". The album was released in Japan on December 15, 2007 with a following U.S. release later on February 5, 2008, one week after The Mars Volta's The Bedlam in Goliath. The album art was illustrated by graffiti artist GREY, a childhood friend of Rodriguez-Lopez's. According to the label, the original title given to them by Omar was "Calibration Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far" but the "Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far" part of the title appeared nowhere on the physical release.
