N-II (Spain)
N-II was the former name for the National Route from Madrid to Barcelona and France. According to the new Spanish roads nomenclature, the sections which have been already enhanced and upgraded to ''autovía'' have been recently renamed to A-2, whereas the sections still not upgraded (Zaragoza-Fraga and Barcelona-French border sections) keep the old name N-II. At the French border, near La Jonquera, the route links to the French N9. Most of the traffic formerly carried by the road now takes the A-7 and A-2 ''autovía''. The road is still in the process of being fully dualled but already by-passes the major towns of Girona and Figueres. Monument Near Girona there is a monument at the side of the road in the memory of a worker dead when building the road. La Jonquera
La Jonquera (; ) is a municipality in the ''Comarques of Catalonia, comarca'' of Alt Empordà, l'Alt Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. Fraga
Fraga (; ) is the major town of the ''comarca'' of Bajo Cinca () in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. It is located by the river Cinca. According to the 2014 census, the municipality has a population of 14,926 inhabitants. King Alfonso I of Aragon died at its walls in 1134 while trying to conquer it during the Battle of Fraga. It was conquered from the Moors by the Count Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona in 1149. The local language, called ''Fragatí'', is western Catalan. Historically, there was a Jewish community in Fraga. The Route nationale 9, or ''RN 9'', is a Route Nationale (France), route nationale in France between Moulins, Allier, Moulins and the border with Spain across 591 kilometres. The Autovía A-7 (also called ''Autovia del Mediterráneo'') is a Spanish autovía (toll-free limited-access highway) which starts in La Jonquera, near the French frontier and ends in Algeciras.
