Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc ( bn, মাসিহুজ্জামান সেরনিয়াবাত; born 14 February 1962) was the 15th Chief of the Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force. He took over as the chief on 12 June 2018 from Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar. He was promoted to Air Marshal on the same day. He was promoted to the rank of ACM on 30 July 2018. Early life Serniabat was born on 14 February 1962. Air chief marshal (Air Chf Mshl or ACM) is a high-ranking air officer originating from the Royal Air Force. The rank is used by air forces of many countries that have historical British influence. An air chief marshal is equivalent to an Admiral in a navy or a full general in an army or other nations' air forces. The rank of air chief marshal is immediately senior to the rank of air marshal but subordinate to marshal of the air force. Air chief marshals are sometimes generically considered to be air marshals. Royal Air Force use and history Origins Prior to the adoption of RAF-specific rank titles in 1919, it was suggested that the RAF might use the Royal Navy's officer ranks, with the word "air" inserted before the naval rank title. Abu Esrar
Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, BBP, NDC, ACSC was the 14th Chief of the Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force. He took over as the chief on 12 June 2015 from Air Marshal Enamul Bari. He is the first four-star air officer (Air Chief Marshal) of Bangladesh. He was promoted to ACM on 16 January 2016. Birth Esrar was born in 1961 in Gazipur to Abu Ayub and Akhtarunnesa. Air Force career Esrar joined the Bangladesh Air Force on 19 September 1978. He was commissioned in the GD(P) branch on 1 February 1981. He has worked in most of the squadrons of BAF. He has flown PT-6, AA-SA, Fugi-200, MiG-29. He has also worked as instructor of new pilots. He has worked as Defense Attache in Moscow, Russia. Before assume the post of air chief he served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations and Training). Abu Esrar has undergone many courses in Bangladesh and abroad.
