Møbelringen Cup 2006
The 2006 Møbelringen Cup was the 6th edition of the handball tournament Møbelringen Cup. It was held in Hamar, Gjøvik and Lillehammer, Norway. The tournament started on 24 November 2006 and finished on 26 November. Norway women's national handball team, Norway won the event by winning all their matches. Russia women's national handball team, Russia who also won their first two matches, was beaten in the last match of the tournament, when Norway won by 29-26. After Norway won the tournament, Norway's coach Marit Breivik had to decline suggestions that Norway were favourites for the 2006 European Women's Handball Championships, European Championships in December. Regardless, Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten said that Russia were no longer the major favourites for the EC. Aftenposten

Anna Vasilyevna Kareyeva (; born 10 May 1977) is a Russian handball player who competed internationally with the Russian national team. She has won the World Championship three times (2001, 2005 and 2007) and she also received a silver medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Gro Hammerseng
Gro Hammerseng-Edin (born 10 April 1980 in Gjøvik as Gro Hammerseng) is a Norwegian former handballer who last played for the club Larvik HK. She was captain of the Norwegian national team for several years, and in 2007 she was voted female World Handball Player of the Year. She was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. Club career Hammerseng started her handball career in 1990 at Gjøvik HK (1990–1995). She later played one year for Raufoss IL (1995–1996) and one year for Vardal IF (1996–1997) before starting her senior career in 1997 for Gjøvik og Vardal HK (1997–2003). Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth
Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth Koren (born 1 August 1984) is a retired Norwegian handball player for the Norwegian national team, who last played for Larvik HK. She is commonly known as Linka. Outside handball she is a qualified nurse. She was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. Career Club career Riegelhuth started playing handball at her hometown club Ski. She later played for Holmlia and Furuset until Larvik HK showed an interest for her. She was only 17 when she signed with Larvik for the 2002/03 season. Emiliya Khalsberiyevna Turey (; born 6 October 1984 in Astrakhan) is a Russian former handballer who played as a left wing. She is a three-time World Champion (2005, 2007 & 2009), silver medalist of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2006 European Championship, and bronze medalist of the 2008 European Championship, all with the National Team of Russia. Kari Aalvik Grimsbø (born 4 January 1985) is a former Norwegian handball player who last played for Győri ETO KC and the Norwegian national team. Since her retirement she is the goalkeeping coach at Byåsen HE. Career Aalvik Grimsbø played her first match for the senior national team in September 2005 against Portugal. 2006 European Women's Handball Championships
The 2006 EHF European Women's Handball Championship was held in Sweden from 7 to 17 December. It was won by Norway women's national handball team, Norway after beating Russia women's national handball team, Russia 27–24 in the final match. This championship was also the European qualifying event for Handball at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 Olympics, and Norway earned a spot at the 2008 Games for being the European champion. If Norway also becomes the 2007 World champion, the 2nd place team will qualify for the Olympics. The Posten Cup, formerly known as the Møbelringen Cup and Intersport Cup, is an annual women's handball tournament arranged by the Norwegian Handball Federation.
