Mönsterås Municipality
Mönsterås Municipality (''Mönsterås kommun'') is a municipality in Kalmar County, south-eastern Sweden, with its seat located in the town Mönsterås. Mönsterås was an original market town ''köping'', which in 1952 was united with the rural municipality by the same name. By the local government reform of 1971 it became a municipality of unitary type and amalgamated with ''Fliseryd'' and ''Ålem'' in 1974. The municipal arms show the ridge which the town centre with its church has been situated on since the medieval age. The cross symbolizes the Knights Hospitallers, a monastic order that was built in the town in the fifteenth century and had a large influence on its development. It is an etymological design showing the origin of the name of the municipality: ''Mönster'' comes from monastery while ''ås'' means ridge. Kalmar Strait
The Kalmar Strait ( sv, Kalmarsund) is a strait in the Baltic Sea, located between the Swedish island of Öland and the province of Småland of the Swedish mainland. Oskarshamn Municipality
Oskarshamn Municipality (''Oskarshamns kommun'') is a municipality in Kalmar County in south-eastern Sweden, where the city Oskarshamn is seat. The amalgamations in the present municipality took place in 1967 when three rural municipalities joined the ''City of Oskarshamn'', which was transformed into a municipality of unitary type in 1971. In 1966 construction started on the first nuclear power plant, OKG, within the present municipality. Since then two more reactors have been built and the plant today produces about 10% of Sweden's electricity. In October 2020 the municipal council voted in favour of the building of Forsmark nuclear waste repository, with the final decision needing to be made by the Swedish government. Timmernabben
Timmernabben is a locality situated in Mönsterås Municipality, Kalmar County, Sweden with 1,276 inhabitants in 2010. Nowadays it is mainly a commuter village on the Baltic coast with hardly any own industry or service. The only exceptions are the burnt almond workshop ''Råsnäs'', the fish smokery and the ceramics factory ''Gabriel Keramik''. The village has a history as a shipping harbor for timber, which has given the name to this settlement: "the peninsula where they ship timber". This activity started in the 1680s and went on to the early 1900s.
