Alfred Métraux
Alfred Métraux (; 5 November 1902 – 12 April 1963) was a Swiss and Argentine anthropologist, ethnologist and human rights leader. Early life Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, Métraux spent much of his childhood in Argentina where his father was a well-known surgeon resident in Mendoza. His mother was a Georgian from Tbilisi. He received his secondary and university education in Europe, at the Classical Gymnasium of Lausanne, the École nationale des chartes in Paris, the École nationale des langues Orientales (Diplome, 1925). The École pratique des hautes études (Diplôme, 1927) and the Sorbonne (Docteur ès lettres, 1928). He also studied in Sweden, in Gothenburg's University and did research at the well-equipped local anthropological museum. Among his teachers were Marcel Mauss, Paul Rivet, and Erland Nordenskiöld. Rhoda Métraux
Rhoda Bubendey Métraux (18 October 1914, New York City – 26 November 2003, Barton, Vermont) was a prominent anthropologist in the area of cross-cultural studies. She collaborated with Alfred Métraux on mutual studies of Haitian voodoo. She also studied the Iatmul people of the middle Sepik River in Papua New Guinea and made three fieldwork trips to Tambunum village of 6-7 months each in 1967-1968, 1971, and 1972-1973 that focused on music. During one of her studies, Métraux administered the Lowenfeld Mosaic Test in Tambunum, developed by a Margaret Lowenfeld. Additionally, Métraux did fieldwork in Mexico, Argentina, and Montserrat in the West Indies and enrolled at Yale University to study for her doctorate under the tutelage of Bronisław Malinowski. During World War II, Métraux headed the section on German morale for the US Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Kim Métraux
Kim Métraux (born 21 May 1995) is a Swiss professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She was runner-up at the 2022 Joburg Ladies Open. Amateur career Métraux started playing golf at the age of 12, together with her sister Morgane Métraux, who is also a LET member. Métraux was member of the Swiss National Team and played her first European Girls' Team Championship in 2012. She also played in the 2013 edition, where she finished third individually, and three European Ladies' Team Championships, winning a bronze medal in 2014 and a silver medal in 2015. She has also represented Switzerland along with her sister in two World Amateur Team Championships, the 2014 Espirito Santo Trophy in Japan and the 2016 Espirito Santo Trophy Mexico, winning the silver medal in Mexico and finishing third individually, the highlight of her amateur career. Morgane Métraux
Morgane Métraux (born 18 March 1997) is a Swiss professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET). In 2021, she won the Symetra Tour's Island Resort Championship, which helped her graduate to the LPGA Tour. In 2022, she won the Ladies Italian Open and in 2024 the Jabra Ladies Open in France. Amateur career Métraux started playing golf at the age of ten, together with her sister Kim Métraux, who is also an LET member. At 15, she played in her first international event at the 2012 Junior Open Championship, made the cut and soon became part of the Swiss National Team.
