Myyrmanni is a shopping center in the Myyrmäki suburb of Vantaa, Finland. The center was built in the early 1990s and has over 90 stores and 1,100 parking spaces. Myyrmanni Bombing
The Myyrmanni bombing took place on October 11, 2002, in Myyrmäki, Vantaa, Finland, in Greater Helsinki, at the Myyrmanni shopping mall. A bomb was hidden in a backpack, which exploded in the central square of the shopping center on top of a metal waste container, located in the center of the square, at 19:36. Five people were instantly killed, including the bomber. The waste container was shattered, and fragments of the structure increased the amount of shrapnel and the devastation. The explosion ruined 400 m2 of the shopping center, carved a 10-cm deep crater in the floor where the waste container had stood and blew the glass dome over the square up and outwards from the mall. In total seven died, including two teenagers and a seven-year-old. 159 were injured, including 10 children. 66 victims required hospitalization with the remainder treated and released at the scene. K-Citymarket is a Finnish hypermarket chain owned by Kesko. The chain has about 80 stores in Finland. The first K-Citymarket store was opened in Lahti year 1971. The size of the stores are between 7,000 m² (75,347 sq ft) to 10,000 m² (107,639 sq ft). In all K-Citymarkets, a K-retailer is responsible for the sale of groceries, and Kesko for the consumer goods side. Alko
Alko Inc is the national alcoholic beverage retailing monopoly in Finland. It is the only store in the country which retails beer over 8% ABV, wine (except in vineyards) and spirits. Alcoholic beverages are also sold in licensed restaurants and bars but only for consumption on the premises.
