Myron Sifakis
Myron Sifakis (; born 28 September 1960) is a Greek retired Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper and current Manager (association football), football manager. Career Playing career Sifakis began his football career at his local side Atsalenios F.C., Atsalenios. He was then transferred to Heraklion's Superleague Greece, Alpha Ethniki side OFI Crete F.C., OFI, where he spent 7 years during the club's "golden age". Despite being used mostly as the third-choice goalkeeper, behind Georgios Mitseas and Vangelis Chosadas, Sifakis rose to the occasion when he was called-up by coach Eugène Gerards to defend OFI Crete F.C., OFI's goal during the 1986–87 Greek Cup Final, in which he warded off two shots during the penalty shoot-out (association football), penalty shootout, for which his club claimed their first ever major trophy. Zaros
Zaros () is a village and a former municipality in the Heraklion regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Faistos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of . Population 2,565 (2021). Zaros village, at an altitude of 340 metres, is a village with a lake and gorge nearby. The village has a couple of hotels and it is 44 km from Heraklion at the southern foothills of Mount Psiloritis. The population produce olive oil, sultanas, vegetables and spring water. There are a couple of tavernas that serve trout. Close by is Rouvas Gorge, which is part of the Psiloritis mountain range and is on the hiking route known as the E4 European Walking Path. Nearby Zaros village are traditional water mills which have been working since the 16th century, as well as archaeological sites and monasteries. Nikodimos Papavasiliou
Nikodimos "Nikki" Papavasiliou (; born 31 August 1970) is a Cypriot football manager and former international midfielder. Aside from playing and managing, Papavasiliou's background includes scouting and Academy management. He was the first Greek Cypriot to play in the FA Premier League. Playing career Club career Papavasiliou began his pro football career in 1988 with Greek Alpha Ethniki club OFI, having arrived from England nd the youth teams of Oldham Athletic and Arsenal. He spent five years with the Cretan top-tier side during its "golden years", establishing himself as an attacking midfielder under coach Eugène Gerards. In August 1993, Papavasiliou was transferred to Newcastle United for £120,000 signing a two-year contract and thus becoming the first Cypriot to play in the FA Premier League. Levadiakos F
Levadiakos Football Club (officially romanized: ''Levadeiakos'' ) is a Greek professional football club that plays in the Super League Greece. Based in Livadeia, Greece, the club was promoted to the Alpha Ethniki, forerunner of the Super League, after ten seasons in minor divisions in the 2005–06 season, as runner-up of the Football League in 2004–05. It was then relegated to the Beta Ethniki again in 2006–07 and returned to the top tier in 2007–08. 2005–06 Alpha Ethniki
The 2005–06 Alpha Ethniki was the 70th season of the highest football league of Greece and the last season under the name ''Alpha Ethniki'', before then was renamed to ''Super League Greece''. The season began on 27 August 2005 and ended on 13 May 2006. Olympiacos won their second consecutive and 34th Greek title. However, the season was somewhat overshadowed by the suspension of the Greek FA by UEFA, which jeopardized the European places of the Champions League, UEFA Cup, and Intertoto Cup qualifiers from Greece, as well as the use of Athens Olympic Stadium as the site of the 2006–07 Champions League final. The Cypriot First Division (), also known as the Cyprus League by Stoiximan for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Cyprus and the highest level of the Cypriot football league system. Operated by the Cyprus Football Association, the league is contested by fourteen teams and runs from August to May, with the three lowest-placed teams being relegated to the Cypriot Second Division, and replaced by the top three teams in that division. Pavlos Dermitzakis
Pavlos Dermitzakis (; born 29 June 1969) is a Greek professional football manager and former player. Playing career Dermitzakis began his football career in Kavala, playing for amateur local side Vyron Kavala. In 1987, he was acquired by the city's most prestigious club Kavala, where he played for five years in both the second and third tiers of the Greek football league system, and scoring a total of 47 goals. In 1992, Dermitzakis joined Alpha Ethniki side PAOK, where he spent the next three years of his career. In his last season with PAOK, he was not among coach Arie Haan's first choices, and as a result, his playing time was severely limited. Delta Ethniki
Delta Ethniki () was the fourth level of Greek football championship. During the period of its existence, it was the lowest national division of the Greek championship. It was founded in the 1982–83 season and abolished in the 2012–13 season, as it was merged with the third division (Football League 2). Its history therefore spans 31 years. Many historical clubs of first division (Super League) have played in Delta Ethniki, such as Iraklis (2011–12 season), Ethnikos Piraeus, Apollon Smyrnis and Atromitos. The Football League () was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. It then served as a third tier after the creation of the Super League 2 as the new second tier and it was eventually abolished in 2021 when the 2021–22 Super League 2 went from a 12 team to a 36 team league, absorbing most of the clubs from the Football League.
