Myrna Ayad
Myrna Ayad (Arabic: ميرنا عياد) is a Dubai-based cultural strategist, art advisor and independent arts writer focusing on visual art and culture from the Arab world, Iran and Turkey. She was director of Art Dubai from 2016 to 2018 and prior to that, editor of ''Canvas'' magazine. In 2018, Ayad established her own consultancy focused on cultural strategy. Career Myrna Ayad was born in Beirut and moved to the United Arab Emirates in 1982. From 2007 to 2015, she was editor of ''Canvas'', a magazine focused on visual art from the Middle East, where she also ran the production of ''Canvas Daily'' newspapers, published during Art Dubai and Abu Dhabi Art as well as supplements art books for clients such as Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels and Christie's. Farah Pahlavi
Farah Pahlavi ( fa, فرح پهلوی, née Farah Diba ( fa, فرح دیبا, label=none); born 14 October 1938) is the widow of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and was successively Queen and Empress ('' Shahbanu'') of Iran from 1959 to 1979. She was born into a prosperous family whose fortunes were diminished after her father's early death. While studying architecture in Paris, France, she was introduced to the Shah at the Iranian embassy, and they were married in December 1959. Naziha Salim ( ar, نزيهة سليم, 1927–15 February 2008) was an Iraqi artist, educator and author, described by the country's president, Jalal Talabani, as "the first Iraqi woman who anchored the pillars of Iraqi contemporary art". Helen Khal
Helen Khal (1923 – 2009) was an American artist and critic of Lebanese descent. Early life Helen Khal was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania to a Lebanese American family from Tripoli, Lebanon. She started her painting career at the age of 21; when illness forced house rest, she began to draw. On a visit to Lebanon in 1946 she met and married a young Lebanese poet, Yusuf al-Khal (they later divorced), and remained in the country to study art at ALBA from 1946 to 1948. Hassan El Glaoui
Hassan El Glaoui (1923–2018) was a Moroccan figurative painter best known for his depictions of fantasia horsemen. Early life El Glaoui was born in Marrakesh, Morocco, on December 23, 1923, to the last Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami El Glaoui. Princess Fahrelnissa Zeid
Fahrelnissa Zeid (, ''Fakhr un-nisa'' or ''Fahr-El-Nissa''; 7 January 1901 – 5 September 1991) was a Turkish artist best known for her large-scale abstract paintings with kaleidoscopic patterns as well as her drawings, lithographs, and sculptures. Zeid was one of the first women to go to art school in Istanbul. She lived in different cities and became part of the avant-garde scenes in 1940s Istanbul, and post-war Paris. Adam Henein
Adam Henein ( ar, آدم حنين; 31 March 1929 – 22 May 2020) was an Egyptian sculptor. Early life Samuel Henein was born into a family, originally from Asyut, of gold metalworkers in Cairo in 1929. He was trained as a sculptor at the Academy of Fine Art in Cairo, from which he received his degree in 1953. His family were Coptic Christians. Career Henein became known as a sculptor in the 1950s; he received the Luxor prize in 1954–56, and his work was shown in Cairo, Alexandria, and Munich by the end of that decade. When he moved to Paris in 1971, Henein began to explore painting. In both his paintings and his sculptures, he gained recognition for the use of ancient Egyptian themes and traditional materials.
