Julian Myrick
Julian Southall Myrick (March 1, 1880 – January 4, 1969) was an insurance salesman and promoter of tennis from the United States. Myrick was born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina on March 1, 1880. In 1898, Myrick entered the insurance business as an application clerk at the Mutual Insurance Company. In 1906, Myrick partnered with his colleague Charles Ives to start their own company, Ives and Myrick. Myrick is known for his contributions to insurance industry. In 1910, he was involved in founding the first training college for insurance agents. Myrick also helped set up American College of Life Underwriters (now known as The American College) in 1927. Myrick was also significantly involved in the promotion of tennis in United States. He was the president West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills from 1915 to 1917. Svante Myrick
Svante L. Myrick (born March 15, 1987) is an American politician who formerly served as the mayor of Ithaca, New York. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Raised in the town of Earlville, New York, Myrick was elected to the Ithaca Common Council in 2007 while he was a student at Cornell University. After graduating from Cornell in 2009, Myrick ran for mayor of Ithaca in 2011; he defeated two candidates in the Democratic primary and won the general election with 54.9% of the vote. Upon taking office in 2012 at age 24, Myrick became the city's youngest mayor and its first mixed race mayor. Susan "Sue" Dowdell Myrick (February 20, 1893 – September 3, 1978) was an American journalist, educator, author, and conservationist. Her friendship with author Margaret Mitchell led to Myrick's role as a technical advisor and dialect coach during the production of '' Gone with the Wind'' (1939), ensuring the film accurately portrayed the accents, customs, and manners of the South. Due to this expertise she has been called the "Emily Post of the South". Myrick also was a columnist, reporter, and associate editor for Macon-based newspaper '' The Telegraph'', working at the paper for fifty years. Sue Myrick (née Wilkins; born August 1, 1941) is an American businesswoman and the former U.S. Representative for , serving from 1995 to 2013. She is a member of the Republican Party. She was the first Republican woman to represent North Carolina in Congress. On February 7, 2012, she announced that she was retiring. Nathan Myrick (July 7, 1822 in Westport, New York – June 4, 1903 in St. Paul, Minnesota) was a fur trader who founded La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1841. Myrick was in the fur trade in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin before traveling north to establish a fur trading post in what is now La Crosse. Marie Louise Scudder (December 5, 1853 – June 10, 1934) was the owner, manager and editor of the '' Americus Times''. Early life (1854 until 1875) Marie Louise Scudder (called Louise throughout her life) was born in 1854 to Colonel James Lockhart Scudder (1823–1882) and Caroline (born Davidson). She was the eldest of seven children. Her father was known in the City of Shelbyville, Tennessee as a "colorful character". Col. Andrew J. Myrick (May 28, 1832 – August 18, 1862) was a trader, who with his Dakota wife (''Winyangewin''/Nancy Myrick), operated stores in southwest Minnesota at two Native American agencies serving the Dakota (referred to as Sioux at the time) near the Minnesota River. Hannah Myrick
Hannah Glidden Myrick (August 31, 1871–October 23, 1973) was the first female physician to receive a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1900, thereby helping to blaze the trail for more women to enter medicine. Prior to Johns Hopkins, she attended Boston Boy's Latin School on a rare exception as a female. In 1886, Myrick graduated from Smith College. She practiced medicine in Boston and acted as the superintendent of the New England Hospital for Women and Children, where she helped to introduce the use of X-rays to treat women and children.
