Mynydd Isa Football Club is a Welsh football team based in Mynydd Isa, near Mold, Flintshire, Wales. The team play in the . History Mynydd Isa had previously been represented by a team, Mynydd Isa FC who rose to the second tier of football in Wales, the Cymru Alliance, before dissolving in 2009. The current team was formed in 2015 as ''Ewloe Spartans'' but a move to the Argoed Sports and Social Club at Mynydd Isa in 2016 meant the club changed to its current name of Mynydd Isa Spartans. In their first season as Mynydd Isa, the Spartans gained promotion to the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) by finishing as runners-up in the 2016-17 North East Wales League. The club joined the newly formed North East Wales Football League in 2020 as a Premier Division club. The club were formerly known as Mynydd Isa Spartans, until the senior section of the club merged with Mynydd Isa Youth FC in June 2023. Mynydd Isa
Mynydd Isa (; ) is a village in Flintshire, in north-east Wales. It lies between the county town of Mold, and Buckley (which it is contiguous with) in the community of Argoed which had a population of 5837 according to the 2011 census. Mynydd Isa was originally a small hamlet on the north side of the Mold to Buckley road (now the A549 road) just downhill from the now demolished Calvinist chapel. It did not appear on Ordnance Survey maps until 1912. Its placename is Welsh for "lowest mountain". Another old hamlet nearby was Pant-y-Fownog, on the same road nearer Buckley (centred on the Griffin Inn); although the name was used well into the 1900s on picture postcards of the area and by the local Co-Op shop next to the Inn. The name has long since become disused (except for lending its name to a road in nearby Buckley). Mold ( ) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, on the River Alyn. It is the historic county town and was the administrative seat of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 2025, as it was of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996. Cymru Alliance
The Cymru Alliance League (known for sponsorship reasons as Huws Gray Alliance) was a association football, football league in North Wales, north and Mid Wales, central Wales which formed the second level of the Welsh football league system. From the 2019/20 season onwards, it was replaced by the Cymru North. If the team which finished top of the league held a Domestic Licence, it could apply for promotion to the Welsh Premier League and was replaced by one of the bottom two teams in the Welsh Premier League. If the league champions did not hold a Domestic Licence, then the team which finished second, if in possession of a Domestic Licence, could be promoted instead. Welsh National League (Wrexham Area)
The Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) was a football league in Wales and operated at level 3 and 4 of the Welsh football league system in Flintshire and Wrexham County Borough, but with some teams from Denbighshire (Corwen and Llangollen Town) and Gwynedd (Llanuwchllyn). For sponsorship purposes it was last known as the ''Guy Walmsley & Co Welsh National League''. The North East Wales Football League represents the North East Wales area at the fourth and fifth tiers of the Welsh football league system. It was established in 2020 as a successor to the North East Wales League following a reorganisation of the Welsh football pyramid.
