Mymensingh () is a metropolis, metropolitan city and capital of Mymensingh Division, Bangladesh. Located on the bank of the Old Brahmaputra River, Brahmaputra River, about north of the national capital Dhaka, it is a major financial center and educational hub of north-central Bangladesh. It is the administrative center of Mymensingh District and Mymensingh Division. As of 2022, Mymensingh City Corporation is the 7th largest city in terms of area and the 8th largest in terms of population in the country, with a population of 576,927 people. Mymensingh Division (; ) is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. It has an area of and a population of 12,225,498 as of the 2022 census. Mymensingh City Corporation (: in short-MCC), is a local governing body that administered all civic services in the Mymensingh, the city of Bangladesh. Mymensingh Medical College
Mymensingh Medical College (MMC; ), formerly Lytton Medical School, is a public medical college and hospital in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The institute was established in 1924 during the British Raj under the former name. Brigadier General Md Golam Ferdous (MPH, MPhil) is the present director of the medical college hospital. History During the later part of British Raj, it was felt that what was then Campbell Medical School of Calcutta and Mitford Medical School of Dhaka were unable to cater the needs of the growing population. Shashi Lodge
The Shashi Lodge (), also known as the Rajbari of Mymensingh, was the palace-residence of Maharaja Shashikant Acharya, who was the Maharaja of the Muktagacha Zamindari Estate in Mymensingh of East Bengal during the time of the British Raj in India. The palace is located by the river Brahmaputra, in the heart of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Through the end of the British Raj and the partition of India in 1947, East Bengal became the eastern wing of the independent state of Pakistan. After the passing of the East Bengal State Acquisition and Tenancy Act of 1950 by the democratic Government of East Bengal in the Dominion of Pakistan, the ''zamindari'' system was abolished. Since 1952, Shashi Lodge was used as a training center for women teachers and it continued even after East Bengal seceded from Pakistan to become Bangladesh. This is a list of 300 parliamentary constituencies currently represented in the Jatiya Sangsad, the unicameral national legislature of Bangladesh. Each constituency is represented by a single Member of Parliament. Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is a Public university, public agricultural university in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. It was founded in 1961 by the Pakistani government as East Pakistan Agricultural University. It is the third-oldest university in the country.
