Mykola Tsybulenko
Mykola Vasyliovych Tsybulenko (; 1942–1998) was a Ukrainian people, Ukrainian major general. General Tsybulenko was born in the village of Vepryk, Fastiv Raion, Kyiv Oblast. He graduated from North-Caucasian Suvorov Military School, Caucasian Suvorov Military School with a silver medal. He is also an alumnus of the Leningrad Higher Military-Command School, the Frunze Military Academy, and the Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 1992, he was elected as a member-correspondent of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine with a specialty of communications. He served on command positions in various military districts of Soviet Union and abroad. After the collapse of Soviet Union, Tsybulenko made a major contribution to the creation of the armed forces of newly independent Ukraine, especially in Crimea. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ( uk, Генеральний штаб Збройних сил України) is the military staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is the central organ of the Armed Forces Administration and oversees operational management of the armed forces under the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is appointed by the President of Ukraine, who is the supreme commander-in-chief of the armed forces. On 28 March 2020 there was introduced a new position Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine splitting away from the Chief of the General Staff. The current Chief of the General Staff is Serhiy Shaptala, while Commander-in-Chief became Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Evhen Tsybulenko ( uk, Євген Цибуленко, b. 21. October 1972 in Simferopol, Ukraine) is an Estonian legal scholar of Ukrainian descent. He is professor of law at the Tallinn University of Technology and Kyiv International University and is focused on International Humanitarian Law. Academic career Tsybulenko graduated from Kiev National University in 1996 as LL.M. and obtained Ph.D. in International Law in 2000. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the International Human Rights Law Institute of De Paul University in Chicago during 2002, and has worked at the International Committee of the Red Cross and in Kyiv International University.
