Al Waxman
Albert Samuel Waxman, (March 2, 1935 – January 18, 2001) was a Canadian actor and director of over 1,000 productions on radio, television, film, and stage. He is best known for his starring roles in the television series '' King of Kensington'' (CBC), '' Cagney & Lacey'' (CBS) and '' Twice in a Lifetime'' ( CTV). Early life Waxman was born in Toronto, Ontario to Jewish immigrants from Poland. His parents operated and owned Melinda Lunch, a small restaurant. His father, Aaron Waxman, died when Al was nine. Waxman attended Central Technical School in Toronto. Career Waxman's career began at the age of twelve on CBC Radio, but it was not until 1975, when he began playing the role of Larry King on CBC's '' King of Kensington'', that he became a Canadian icon. The ''Ottawa Journal'' was a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from 1885 to 1980. It was founded in 1885 by A. Woodburn as the ''Ottawa Evening Journal''. Its first editor was John Wesley Dafoe who came from the '' Winnipeg Free Press''. In 1886, it was bought by Philip Dansken Ross. The paper began publishing a morning edition in 1917. Ardon Bess (born 1941) is a Canadian actor best known for appearing in a ''Heritage Minutes'' short film about the 1958 Springhill mining disaster portraying survivor Maurice Ruddick, and for playing Nestor "The Jester" Best in the sitcom '' King of Kensington''. Early life and education Bess was born in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. After completing his secondary school education in St. Vincent, he became a bank teller. Dinah Christie
Dinah Barbara Christie (born December 29, 1942) is a retired Canadian actress and singer. Christie was born in London, England to actors Robert and Margot Christie, she came to Canada at the age of two with her parents and grew up in Toronto. She had a younger sister and, later, three half-siblings. At age 13, she worked as a call boy at the Stratford Festival and became an apprentice at the Festival in 1960. In 1961, she sang in a comedy revue in Toronto, directed by her father. Before she was out of her teens, she had been cast in small roles at Stratford. In 1962, aged 19, she starting singing while attending North Toronto Collegiate Institute (NTCI) and performed as a folk singer in her teens, taking voice lessons from Portia White. Christie reached Grade 13 at NTCI but did not graduate. In 1965, she was selected by Tom Kneebone to co-star in a stage revue, and the two would frequently work together for decades.
