''My Own Best Enemy'' is the seventh studio album by soft rock singer-songwriter Richard Marx. The album hit No. 126 on the ''Billboard'' album chart in 2004. The album produced two singles, "When You're Gone" and "Ready to Fly." Both of them reached the 'Hot Adult Top 40' chart. "Ready To Fly" also hit No. 22 on the adult contemporary chart. Richard Noel Marx (born September 16, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Marx's first number one success as a songwriter came in 1984 with " What About Me?", which was recorded by Kenny Rogers, Kim Carnes, and James Ingram, and topped the US and Canadian Adult Contemporary charts. His second chart-topper was 1985's " Crazy", a song he co-wrote with Rogers which reached number one in the Hot Country Songs chart. "Don't Mean Nothing" is the debut single by singer/songwriter/producer Richard Marx from his triple platinum 1987 eponymous album. It hit No. 1 on ''Billboard''s Album Rock Tracks chart and No. 3 on the Hot 100. With the chart success of "Don't Mean Nothing" and subsequent singles from his debut album, Marx became the first male artist to reach the top three of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 pop chart with four singles from a debut album. Greg Bissonette
Gregg Bissonette (born June 9, 1959) is an American jazz and rock drummer and vocalist. He is the brother of bassist Matt Bissonette, with whom he frequently collaborates. Bissonette is known for playing and recording many different styles of music. Matt Laug (born March 17, 1968) is an American drummer who has played with many bands/artists such as AC/DC, Alanis Morissette, Alice Cooper, Slash's Snakepit and Vasco Rossi. Laug moved to Los Angeles after graduating from South Florence High School in 1986 and after attending college in LA, Laug became a sought after studio drummer. Steel Guitar
A steel guitar () is any guitar played while moving a steel bar or similar hard object against plucked strings. The bar itself is called a "steel" and is the source of the name "steel guitar". The instrument differs from a conventional guitar in that it is played without using frets; conceptually, it is somewhat akin to playing a guitar with one finger (the bar). Known for its portamento capabilities, gliding smoothly over every pitch between notes, the instrument can produce a sinuous crying sound and deep vibrato emulating the human singing voice. Paul Franklin (musician)
Paul V. Franklin (born May 31, 1954) is an American multi-instrumentalist, known mainly for his work as a steel guitarist. He began his career in the 1970s as a member of Barbara Mandrell's road band; in addition he toured with Vince Gill, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed and Dire Straits. Bruce R. Gaitsch (; born February 7, 1953) is an American guitarist, composer, and producer. He is best known for working with notable bands and musicians such as Chicago, Peter Cetera, Madonna, and Agnetha Fältskog as a session musician and songwriter.
