My Little Margie
''My Little Margie'' is an American television sitcom starring Gale Storm and Charles Farrell that alternated between CBS and NBC from 1952 to 1955. The series was created by Frank Fox and produced in Los Angeles, California, at Hal Roach Studios by Hal Roach Jr., and Roland D. Reed. ''My Little Margie'' premiered on CBS as a summer replacement for ''I Love Lucy'' on June 16, 1952, under the sponsorship of Philip Morris cigarettes (when the series moved to NBC for its third season in the fall of 1953, Scott Paper Company became its sponsor). In an unusual move, the series – with the same leads – aired original episodes on CBS Radio, concurrently with the TV broadcasts, from December 1952 through August 1955. ''Margie'' is an American television sitcom starring Cynthia Pepper that was broadcast on ABC from October 12, 1961 to August 31, 1962. Premise ''Margie'' was set in the Roaring Twenties. Margie Clayton lived with her parents, a little brother, and an aunt. Maybelle Jackson (her best friend) was a flapper. Two boys, Heywood Batts and Johnny Green, vied for Margie's affection. The locale was Madison, a small town "somewhere in New England". The series was adapted from the 1946 film of the same name. Larry Klein, one of the producers, said "We have preferred to create our own family and situations rather than rely on fixed characters created by someone else." Nielsen Media Research (NMR) is an American firm that measures media audiences, including television, radio, theatre, films (via the AMC Theatres MAP program), and newspapers. Headquartered in New York City, it is best known for the Nielsen ratings, an audience measurement system of television viewership that for years has been the deciding factor in canceling or renewing television shows by television networks. As of August 2024, it is the primary part of Nielsen Holdings. NMR began as a division of ACNielsen, a marketing research firm founded in 1923. Andrew Allan Clyde (March 25, 1892 – May 18, 1967), was a Scottish-born American film and television actor whose career spanned some 45 years. In 1921 he broke into silent films as a Mack Sennett comic, debuting in ''On a Summer Day''. He was the fifth of six children of theatrical actor, producer and Stage management, manager John Clyde. ZaSu Pitts (; January 3, 1894 – June 7, 1963) was an American actress who, in a career spanning nearly five decades, starred in many silent film drama film, dramas, such as Erich von Stroheim's 1924 epic ''Greed (1924 film), Greed'', along with comedies, before moving into sound films, mostly comedy roles. William Best (May 27, 1916 – February 27, 1962), known professionally as Willie Best or Sleep 'n' Eat, was an American television and film actor. Best was one of the first African American film actors and comedians to become well known. In the 21st century, his work, like that of Stepin Fetchit, is sometimes reviled because he was often called upon to play stereotypically lazy, illiterate, and/or simple-minded characters in films. Verna Arline Felton (July 20, 1890December 14, 1966) was an American actress known for voicing many Disney animated films, such as the Fairy Godmother, the Queen of Hearts, and Flora. Gertrude W. Hoffmann (born Eliza Gertrude Wesselhoeft; May 17, 1871 – February 13, 1968) was a German-born American character actress who began her Hollywood career in her sixties. Family Hoffmann was born on May 17, 1871, at Heidelberg (German Empire), the daughter of Walter and Mary Sara Silver (née Fraser) Wesselhoeft. Her father was a German-born doctor who at the time of her birth had left his medical practice in Halifax, Nova Scotia to volunteer his services after the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War.
