My Late Summer (2024 Film)
''My Late Summer'' () is a 2024 internationally co-produced comedy-drama film directed by Danis Tanović and written by Anja Matković, Nikola Kuprešanin and Tanović. The plot follows a family fighting for inheritance on a small island. An international co-production, the film premiered at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival on 16 August 2024. It was selected as the Bosnian entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards, but was not nominated. Plot A young woman from Zagreb, the illegitimate daughter of a rich islander, comes to the island where she begins an affair with a married British writer in a midlife crisis. Their sea adventure becomes a forbidden love, a search for identity, intertwined with family values, a tragicomic house renovation and a herd of cows that consumed intoxicants. Danis Tanović
Danis Tanović (born 20 February 1969) is a Bosnian film director and screenwriter. He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for the Golden Bear and the Palme d'Or. Tanović is known for having directed and written the script for the film '' No Man's Land'' (2001), which won him many awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has also written and directed the award-winning films '' An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker'' (2013) and '' Death in Sarajevo'' (2016). Tanović is the only person born in the territory of present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina to have won an Academy Award. This is a list of submissions for the 97th Academy Awards for the Best International Feature Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The International Feature Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The category was previously called the Best Foreign Language Film, but this was changed in April 2019 to Best International Feature Film, after the Academy deemed the word "Foreign" to be outdated.
