"My Friend" is a song by English electronic music duo Groove Armada, released as the second single from their third studio album, ''Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)'' (2001), on 5 November 2001. Content The song features vocals by Celetia Martin and contains a sample from "Got to Learn How to Dance" by Fatback Band and samples a drum break from Skull Snaps' "It's a New Day". The lyrics are an interpolation from Brandy's 1995 hit " Best Friend". Release The song was featured in a Dutch television commercial for Royal Club soft drinks in 2002, which resulted in a re-release of the single in the Netherlands and a higher charting in the Dutch singles charts than the year before. Groove Armada
Groove Armada are an English electronic music duo, composed of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. They achieved chart success with their singles " At the River", " I See You Baby" and " Superstylin'". The duo have released nine studio albums, four of which have charted in the UK Albums Chart top 50. History Groove Armada formed after Cato and Findlay had been introduced by a mutual friend and soon started their own club night in London, called Captain Sensual at the Helm of the Groove Armada, after a 1970s discothèque. By 1997, they had released a few singles, including "4 Tune Cookie" and the song that first brought them minor fame, " At the River", which sampled " Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page. Royal Club (brand)
Royal Club is a Dutch brand of soft drinks and juices, mainly targeted at adult consumers. In commercials Royal Club products are presented as "drinks with a bite" for people with distinct preferences. Tims The brand was originally owned by N.V. Handelsmaatschappij v/h J.C. Tims (Rotterdam). Tims produced three different flavours under the brand name Royal Club: tonic water, ginger ale and soda water. It is not clear when Tims started producing these soft drinks. In a 1953 advertisement Tims claimed the brand name had been in use since 1912 by Josiah Russell & Co., an English owned soft drinks company in Rotterdam-Hillegersberg. Rabbit in the Moon is an American electronic music group that formed in 1991. Their style draws from psychedelic trance, house music and breakbeat, along with other diverse influences. Kruder & Dorfmeister, named after members Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, is an Austrian duo, known for their trip hop/downtempo remixes of pop, hip hop and drum and bass songs.
