Mutsumi Hatano
is a Japanese mezzo-soprano who has appeared mostly in concert. She is a member of the Bach Collegium Japan, and has appeared internationally. Career Hatano studied at the Miyazaki University, and further at Trinity College with E. Hawes. From 1998, she has been a member of the Bach Collegium Japan, conducted by Masaaki Suzuki, both as a soloist and a choir member in concerts and recordings, including the recording of all Bach cantatas. She is a soloist in their 2001 recording of Monteverdi's '' Vespro della Beata Vergine''. She has performed and recorded lute songs with lutenist Takashi Tsunoda. Mezzo-soprano
A mezzo-soprano or mezzo (; ; meaning "half soprano") is a type of classical female singing voice whose vocal range lies between the soprano and the contralto voice types. Bach Collegium Japan (BCJ) is composed of an orchestra and a chorus specializing in Baroque music, playing on period instruments. Masaaki Suzuki
is a Japanese organist, harpsichordist and conductor, and the founder and music director of the Bach Collegium Japan. With this ensemble he is recording the complete choral works of Johann Sebastian Bach for the Swedish label BIS Records, for which he is also recording Bach's concertos, orchestral suites, and solo works for harpsichord and organ. Bach Cantatas
This is a sortable list of Bach cantatas, the cantatas composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. His almost 200 extant cantatas are among his important vocal compositions. Many are known to be lost. Bach composed both church cantatas, most of them for specific occasions of the liturgical year of the Lutheran Church, and secular cantatas. Bach's earliest cantatas were written possibly from 1707, the year he moved to Mühlhausen, although he may have begun composing them at his previous post in Arnstadt.
