Mutomo is an urban centre located in Kenya's Kitui County. It is located in former Mutomo District of which Mutomo Town was its administrative centre. It has a population of 17,000 inhabitants. Mutomo District

The administrative center of the district is Mutomo. In 2010, it was merged into Kitui County. Mutomo district was one of the poorest areas in Kenya. Kitui County is a county in the former Eastern Province of Kenya. Its capital and largest town is Kitui, although Mwingi is also another major urban centre. Machakos, also called Masaku is a town in Kenya, southeast of Nairobi. It is the capital of the Machakos County, Kenya. Its population is rapidly growing and was 150,041 as of 2009 and Machakos County had a population of 1,421,932 as of 2019. People who live here are mostly of the Akamba ethnicity. Machakos is surrounded by hilly terrain, with a high number of family farms. History Machakos was established in 1887 by Sakshi Shah, ten years before Nairobi.
