Muties
Muties is a six issue miniseries from Marvel Comics which ran from February to July 2002. It focused on six different Mutants, and each story was essentially self-contained. The miniseries was supposed to show the day-to-day sufferings of mutants, not just those that managed to find their way to the X-Men and Charles Xavier. It was written chiefly by Karl Bollers with different artists doing different issues. Changeling This is the story of Jared, a boy who is both mentally and physically bullied by both peers and his father. One of his few friends is Kate, a pretty and popular girl with whom Jared is in love. Although Jared is the main focus of the story, he is not the mutant. He is, however, highly intelligent, and dreams of running away with Kate. Unfortunately, his dreams come crashing down. Mutant (Marvel Comics)
In American comic books published by Marvel Comics, a mutant is a human being that possesses a genetic trait called the X-gene. It causes the mutant to develop superhuman powers that manifest at puberty. Human mutants are sometimes referred to as a human subspecies ''Homo sapiens superior,'' or simply ''Homo superior.'' Mutants are the evolutionary progeny of ''Homo sapiens'', and are generally assumed to be the next stage in human evolution. The accuracy of this is the subject of much debate in the Marvel Universe.
