Muthu (soundtrack)
''Muthu'' is the soundtrack album composed by A. R. Rahman for the 1995 Tamil-language film of the same name starring Rajinikanth and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. It is the first film where Rahman, Rajinikanth and Ravikumar worked together. The album has six tracks with lyrics by Vairamuthu. The Hindi version is titled ''Muthu Maharaja'' and had lyrics penned by P. K. Mishra, whereas the Telugu version of ''Muthu'' is penned by Bhuvana Chandra. Recording of the songs took place at the composer's Panchathan Record Inn studio in Chennai. The soundtrack was released on 8 October 1995 under the Pyramid label. The Telugu version of the soundtrack was released under Aditya Music, and Saregama distributed the Hindi soundtrack. Development Ravikumar considered "Thillana Thillana" the song "most difficult to crack". Panchathan Record Inn And AM Studios
Panchathan Record Inn and AM Studios is composer/music director A. R. Rahman's studio on his street at Kodambakkam, Chennai in Tamil Nadu. History The Inn was established in 1989, attached to Rahman's backyard, and developed into one of the most developed studios in Asia. Located very close to his home, it houses equipment like the Euphonix#The System 5 All-Digital Mixing Console, Euphonix System 5 Audio Mixing system. The studio has been designed by Studio 440 and the state of the art equipment is from Daxco Digital. His team includes acclaimed sound engineers of Chennai film music including the late H. Sridhar, Mani Sharma, S. Sivakumar, Aditya Modi, A. S. Laxmi Narayanan, S. Saisarvajith, J. Ravinder, his manager Noell James, and Co-Ordinator Samidurai. In 2005, A. R. Sampling (music)
In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, or sound effects. A sample might comprise only a fragment of sound, or a longer portion of music, such as a drum beat or melody. Samples are often layered, Equalization (audio), equalized, sped up or slowed down, repitched, Loop (music), looped, or otherwise manipulated. They are usually integrated using electronic music instruments (Sampler (musical instrument), samplers) or software such as digital audio workstations. Carnatic Raga
A Carnatic raga refers to ''ragas'' used in Carnatic music. It has several components: a primordial sound (''nāda''), tonal system (''swara''), pitch (''śruti''), scale, ornaments ('' gamaka''), and important tones. Origins and history Carnatic raga classification Janaka (Melakarta) ragas and Janya (Upanga) ragas Janaka ragas, or Sampoorna ragas, are parent ragas from which more ragas are derived. As the name suggests, Sampoorna ragas are those in which all seven swaras are present. They are also called Melakarta ragas. These ragas have all seven swaras (notes) in their scales (only one of each swara, Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni), following strict ascending and descending scales and are sung in all octaves. Theni Kunjarammal
Theni Kunjarammal (died 18 April 2008) was an Indian actress and playback singer who has worked in the Tamil film industry. As a playback singer, she has worked extensively with A. R. Rahman during the late 1990s and early 2000s for folk songs, while also regularly collaborating with Harris Jayaraj. Career As an actress, Kunjarammal is best known for her roles as an old woman in a rural village, and made a breakthrough with her performance in '' Karuththamma'' (1994) as a woman who feeds insecticide to baby girls. She later reprised the role in Vivek's comedy track in '' Kadhal Sadugudu'' (2003). Theni Kunjarammal has also worked a singer in films and has regularly collaborated with A. R. Rahman on folk songs. Paravai Muniyamma
Paravai Muniyamma (25 June 1937 – 29 March 2020) was an Indian folk singer and actress. She got the adjective Paravai as she was born in a village called Paravai in Madurai. She featured in many Tamil films mostly in supporting roles and also worked as a playback singer. Muniyamma also had her own cooking show on Kalaignar TV. She was introduced by music director Vidyasagar in the Tamil film industry. Career Muniyamma pursued her career as a singer by performing at cultural temple functions and also performed around 2,000 stage performances of folk songs in her 60s, which also include shows in London, Singapore and Malaysia on behalf of the Lakshman Sruthi. ''Thozhilali'' () is a 1964 Indian Tamil-language film directed by M. A. Thirumugam and produced by Sandow M. M. A. Chinnappa Thevar who also wrote the story. Inspired by Thevar's early life as a milk supplier before he became a wealthy film producer, it stars M. G. Ramachandran, K. R. Vijaya and newcomer Rathna. The film was released on 25 September 1964 and became a box-office success.
