Mustafa Muhummed Omer
Mustafa Muhumed Omar (; born 1972), also called Cagjar, is an somali politician who is the current president of the Somali Region and also the Deputy Chairman of the Somali Democratic Party, a member of Ethiopia’s newly formed Prosperity Party led by Abiy Ahmed, the sitting Prime Minister of Ethiopia. Mustafa was appointed to the acting presidency on 22 August 2018 becoming the 13th president of somali region following a political crisis where the Ethiopian military forced Abdi Mohamoud Omar to resign after a stand-off with the central government. Omer has previously worked as a teacher activist, and humanitarian in food security (pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihoods), partnership, resource mobilization, and strategic planning roles in different NGOs. He previously served as an advisor to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia. Aware (town)
Aware () is a town and the capital city of the Aware woreda, in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. It is frequently considered part of the Haud. Overview Aware is situated near the border with Somaliland and is one of the oldest cities in the Hawd, with a history spanning over centuries. Prior to the 1977 Ogaden War , the city served as the principal seat of the Jarar Zone. At the onset of the '77 war, the provincial capital of the zone was moved more inland to Degehabur, which by the early 70's surpassed Aware both in population and in economic importance. Aware was the only city in present-day Ethiopia that the British had established a colony including a sizable military presence and was the seat of the British administration in the Haud prior to Somali independence in 1960. Jarar Zone
Jarar () is a zone in Somali Region of Ethiopia. It was previously known as the Degehabur zone, so named after its largest city, Degehabur. Jarar Zone is bordered on the south by Korahe, on the southwest by Nogob, on the northwest by Fafan Zone, on the southeast by Dollo, and on the northeast by Somaliland. Demographics Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia (CSA), this Zone has a total population of 478,168, of whom 268,006 are men and 210,162 women. While 62,584 or 13.01% are urban inhabitants, a further 223,778 or 46.8% were pastoralists. The largest ethnic group reported in Jarar were the Somalis (98.92%); all other ethnic groups made up 1.08% of the population. Degehabur () is a town in the region of Somali galbeed in Ethiopia. It is located in the Jarar Zone of Somali galbeed. Degehabur sits at 1044 meters above sea level. The town is the administrative center of Degehabur woreda. The Degehabur consists of 11 districts and the oldest one is the Aware district, others are Yo’ale, Gashamo, Gunagado, Dig, Bir, Ilbur etc. Local landmarks include the white mosque of Degehabur, which Anthony Mockler described as "the most important in the Somali Region." The NGO Doctors without Borders operates a clinic in Degehabur. Hararghe ( ''Harärge''; Harari: ሀረርጌ፞ይ, هَرَرْݘٛىيْ,''Harargêy'', Oromo: Harargee, ) was a province of eastern Ethiopia with its capital in Harar. Abiy Ahmed Ali (; ; born 15 August 1976) is an Ethiopian politician who is the current Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 2018 and the leader of the Prosperity Party since 2019.
