''Musik Pop'' is the sixth studio album by the Indonesian jazz group Maliq & D'Essentials. The album was released on May 15, 2014, by Organic Records. The main track is a collaboration with Indra Lesmana, entitled "Ananda". Indonesian Tempo magazine was entering to ''Musik Pop'' for Top 9 Indonesian Music Album with Tulus' ''Gajah''. The album was nominated for "Album of the Year" at the 2nd Indonesian Choice Awards, but lost to Sheila On 7's '' Musim Yang Baik''. Maliq & D'Essentials is a jazz and soul music based band from Jakarta, Indonesia. Since their appearance in the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival in 2005, Maliq & D'Essentials popularity has increased, especially among young people in Jakarta. The combination of Indonesian and English in their songs has become one of the typical flagships of their music. Their work is considered to be distinctive among other Indonesian music. Biography Maliq & D'Essentials was conceived on 15 May 2002 with eight personnel under a genre they call organic music. Indra Lesmana (born in Jakarta, Indonesia on 28 March 1966) is an Indonesian arranger, composer, songwriter and jazz musician of mixed Dutch, Javanese, Minangkabau and Madurese descent. He is the father of Indonesian actress and singer-songwriter, Eva Celia Lesmana. Biography Lesmana grew up in a house of music and musicians. His father was jazz guitarist and his mother was a singer. He began playing piano when he was nine. A year later, he played in his father's band. He attended the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music in Australia. In 1981, he and his father formed the Jack and Indra Lesmana Quartet with Karim Suweileh and James Morrison. Muhammad Tulus or better known by his mononym Tulus (born August 20, 1987) is an Indonesian singer of Minangkabau descent. Early life Tulus was born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Career Albums His debut album, '' Tulus'', was released in 2011. '' Rolling Stone Indonesia'' put this album on the top chart of Indonesia's Best Album and awarded for Tulus as Rookie of The Year in 2013. His second album, '' Gajah'', was released in 2013. 88,000 copies were produced and distributed since then, one of the largest CD productions in Indonesia (2014–2015). ''Gajah'' (''Elephant'') is the second studio album by Indonesian singer-songwriter Tulus. The album was released on February 19, 2014, by Demajors. The album occupied the eighth position in iTunes Indonesia in July. A few months after release, the single "Gajah" entered the charts in Indonesia. "Sepatu" had re-released single for Japanese' version "Kutsu" (セパトゥ〜くつ〜) and lyrically had translated by Hiroaki Kato, a Japanese artist. The 2nd Indonesian Choice Awards (Official name: NET. 2.0 presents Indonesian Choice Awards 2015) was an entertainment industry award ceremony held on 24 May 2015, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition in South Tangerang, Banten. Sheila on 7 is a pop rock band from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. They have changed their lineup several times since their formation on 6 May 1996. Their first lineup consisted of Akhdiyat Duta Modjo (also known as Duta, vocals), Saktia "Sakti" Ari Seno (guitar), Eross Candra (guitar), Adam Muhammad Subarkah (bass) and Anton Widiastanto (drums).
