Guitar
The guitar is a stringed musical instrument that is usually fretted (with Fretless guitar, some exceptions) and typically has six or Twelve-string guitar, twelve strings. Jean-Luc Ponty
Jean-Luc Ponty (born 29 September 1942) is a French jazz and jazz fusion violinist and composer. He is considered a pioneer of jazz-rock, particularly for his use of the electric violin starting in the 1970s. He rose to prominence for his collaborations with popular musical artists Frank Zappa and Elton John. In addition to his solo work, he has performed with symphony orchestras in France, the United States, Canada, and Japan. Early life Ponty was born into a family of classical musicians in Avranches, France. His father taught violin, and his mother taught piano. At sixteen, he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, graduating two years later with the institution's highest honor, Premier Prix (first prize). Boyd Tinsley
Boyd Calvin Tinsley (born May 16, 1964) is an American violinist and mandolinist who is best known for having been a member of the Dave Matthews Band. Early life Tinsley was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. His was a musical family; his father was a choir director and his uncle a bassist who also played the trumpet for local bands. Tinsley was an aspiring guitarist until middle school, when he discovered his proficiency on the violin. He studied with Isidor Saslav, then concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra but, at age 16, decided he did not want to pursue a career in classical music. Tinsley studied history at the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. While in school, he formed a two-man band called Down Boy Down. Dave Matthews Band (also known as DMB) is an American rock band from Charlottesville, Virginia. The band's lineup consists of Dave Matthews (lead vocals, guitar), Stefan Lessard (bass), Carter Beauford (drums), Tim Reynolds (lead guitar), Rashawn Ross (trumpet, percussion), Jeff Coffin (saxophones), and Buddy Strong (keyboards). Nigel Kennedy (born 28 December 1956) is an English violinist and viola, violist. His early career was primarily spent performing classical music, and has since expanded into jazz music, jazz, klezmer, and other music genres. Early life and background Kennedy's grandfather was Lauri Kennedy, principal cellist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and his grandmother was Dorothy Kennedy, a pianist. Lauri and Dorothy Kennedy were Australian, while their son, the cellist John Kennedy (cellist), John Kennedy, was born in England. Yellowcard is an American rock band who formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997. Their official lineup currently consists of lead singer Ryan Key, lead guitarist Ryan Mendez, bassist Josh Portman and violinist Sean Mackin. Miri Ben-Ari (; born ) is an Israeli Americans, Israeli–American violinist, record producer, and humanitarian. As of 2025, she is the first and only violinist to win a Grammy in the Hip Hop category, known as "the Hip hop music, hip-hop violinist". Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced.
