Musical Justice
''Musical Justice'' is a 1931 Paramount Pictures musical short starring Betty Boop and Rudy Vallée and directed by Aubrey Scotto. Plot summary ''Musical Justice'' stars Rudy Vallée as judge and His Connecticut Yankees as jury presiding over the Court of Musical Justice. The judge hears three separate cases. The final case is the ''State vs. Betty Boop'', in which the judge tells Betty Boop (Mae Questel) that "she has broken every law of music". Boop's rendition of "Don't Take My Boop-Oop-A-Doop Away" results in a verdict of not guilty. Aubrey Scotto
Aubrey H. Scotto (August 21, 1895 – June 24, 1953) was an American film director, writer and film editor. Born in Los Angeles and active in films from 1929, Scotto graduated from directing short subjects to Republic Pictures features in 1933. Personal life In January 1941, Scotto was one of several men named in divorce proceedings, accused of "committing improper acts" with Marion Talley. He had directed her in the 1936 film ''Follow Your Heart (1936 film), Follow Your Heart''. Scotto was married at the time to Florida socialite Natalie H. Scotto, but his relationship with Talley was cited in the divorce suit against him in March 1941. By October 1948, he had been married four times. Margaret Louise Hines (October 15, 1909 – December 23, 1985), also known as Marjorie Hines or Margie Hines, was an American animation voice artist. She was known for her work at Fleischer Studios, where she was the original voice of Betty Boop. Hubert Prior Vallée (July 28, 1901 – July 3, 1986), known professionally as Rudy Vallée, was an American singer, saxophonist, bandleader, actor, and entertainer. He was the first male singer to rise from local radio broadcasts in New York City to national popularity as a crooner. Early life Vallée was born in Island Pond, Vermont on July 28, 1901, the son of Catherine Lynch and Charles Alphonse Vallée. His maternal grandparents were English and Irish, while his paternal grandparents were French Canadians from Quebec. He grew up in Westbrook, Maine. On March 29, 1917, he enlisted in the US Navy in Portland, Maine to fight in World War I, but authorities discovered he was only 15 and had given the false birth date of July 28, 1899. He was discharged at the Naval Training Station in Newport, Rhode Island on May 17, 1917, after 41 days of active service.
