John Musgrave (cricketer)
John Musgrave Tattersall-Musgrave (?13 February 1845 – 12 March 1885) played first-class cricket in a single match for Cambridge University Cricket Club while a student at Cambridge University in 1868. He was born at Armley, Leeds, West Yorkshire and died at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. Musgrave's name developed over the course of his life: according to Cricketarchive, he was born as "John Musgrave Tattersall"; at Cambridge, he was "John Musgrave"; by the time he received his Master of Arts in 1872, he was "J. Musgrave Tattersall-Musgrave". There is also doubt over his birth: Cricketarchive states that he was born on 13 February 1845, while the Alumni Cantabrigienses publication indicates that was the date of his baptism. Theodore David Musgrave Sr. (born December 18, 1955) is an American former stock car racing driver. Pre-NASCAR Musgrave's father, Elmer, was a famous short-track racer in the Midwest who raced for over 25 years at Soldier Field, O'Hare, Waukegan, and Wilmot, Wisconsin before moving into asphalt late models in the American Speed Association (ASA) and ARCA. "I was really young at the time," Musgrave said. "But I can still remember sitting in the infield at Milwaukee and watching him race against drivers like Paul Goldsmith. Franklin Story Musgrave (born August 19, 1935) is an American physician and a retired NASA astronaut. He is a public speaker and consultant to both Disney's Imagineering group and Applied Minds in California. In 1996, he became only the second astronaut to fly on six spaceflights, and he is the most formally educated astronaut with six academic degrees along with astronaut Lee Morin. Musgrave is the only astronaut to have flown aboard all five Space Shuttles. Susan Musgrave (born March 12, 1951) is a Canadian poet and children's writer. She was born in Santa Cruz, California, to Canadian parents, and lives in British Columbia, dividing her time between Sidney and Haida Gwaii. She has been nominated several times for Canada's Governor General literary awards. Musgrave left school at 14, and had her first works published at 16. In 1986, at a wedding held in prison, she married Stephen Reid, a writer, convicted bank robber and former member of the infamous band of thieves known as the Stopwatch Gang. Their relationship was chronicled in 1999 in the CBC series '' The Fifth Estate''. Simon Musgrave of Hartley and Edenhall (died 1597) was an English landowner, High Sheriff of Cumberland, and Member of Parliament for Cumberland in 1572. He was a younger son of Edward Musgrave of Hartley and his wife Joan, a daughter of Sir Christopher Ward of Givendale. He inherited the family estates of his nephew Richard Musgrave in 1555. Samuel Musgrave, FRS (29 September 1732 – 5 July 1780) was an English classical scholar and physician. He was born at Washfield, Devon, the son of Richard Musgrave. He matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford in 1749; and graduated B.A. from Corpus Christi College in 1754. He was elected to a Radcliffe travelling fellowship, at University College. Musgrave spent about a decade abroad. At the period when the Treaty of Paris (1763) was signed, Musgrave was resident in Paris. He formed a theory that British representatives had sold out to the French, allowing a treaty unfavourable to British interests. He brought his theory to the attention of Lord Halifax, and the Speaker of the House of Commons, when he returned to England in 1765. Marilyn Neoma Musgrave (née Shuler; born January 27, 1949), American politician, is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives who served from 2003 to 2009, representing the 4th District of Colorado. Musgrave served on the Agriculture and Small Business Committees. In the 110th Congress, she served as Ranking Minority member of the Specialty Crops, Rural Development, and Foreign Agriculture subcommittee. She also served as the Region Two representative for the Republican Steering Committee. She was the first Republican woman elected to Congress from Colorado.
