Museum Nord
Museum Nord is a Norwegian museum consortium for the northern part of Nordland county, including the districts of Lofoten, VesterÃ¥len, and Ofoten. The museum is set up as a foundation and was established on December 13, 2002. It opened in 2004 and it is one of three museum consortia in Nordland; the other two are the Helgeland Museum and the Nordland Museum. The museum unit has about 53 permanent employees and 13 full-time-equivalent positions through the company Lofotr Næringsdrift AS, which is wholly owned by Museum Nord. Museum Nord's administration is located at Melbu in Hadsel Municipality (staff and archives) and Borg in VestvÃ¥gøy Municipality (business and marketing). The director of the museum unit, with offices in Melbu, is Geir Are Johansen. Ballangen (village)
or is a village in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The village is located at the western end of the Ballangen fjord, a small branch off the main Ofotfjorden. The European route E06 highway runs through the village. It is the main north-south route in Northern Norway. The village has a population (2023) of 817 and a population density of . The village economy is centered around the government services for the municipality as well as some manufacturing industry. Just outside the village is Ballangen Museum, which presents the extensive mining activity that has been in Ballangen since the 17th century. Museum Nord, Narvik () is a museum located in the town of Narvik (town), Narvik in Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The museum is an anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage. History Narvik was founded in 1902 as the railhead of the Ofotbanen, Ofoten Railway (''Ofotbanen'') at an ice-free port on the Ofotfjorden to allow the mining corporation LKAB to exports a large supply of iron ore from Kiruna in neighbouring Sweden. LKAB built the Iron Ore Line (''Malmbanan'') to the Norwegian border. The combined rail line has transported tons of iron ore from Sweden since 1902. The Lofoten War Memorial Museum () is a World War II museum located in Svolvær, Norway. Espolin Gallery
The Espolin Gallery () is an art gallery in StorvÃ¥gan near KabelvÃ¥g in VÃ¥gan Municipality, Norway. The gallery was established in 1992 to display the works of the artist Kaare Espolin Johnson. In addition to Espolin Johnson's works, the gallery also displays works by other artists. The gallery is now part of the SKREI Heritage Center (''SKREI Opplevelsessenter'') at Museum Nord.
