Murung Raya Regency
Murung Raya Regency is the most northerly of the thirteen regencies (''kabupaten'') which (together with the independent city of Palangkaraya) comprise the province of Central Kalimantan on the island of Borneo, Indonesia. It was created on 10 April 2002 from the former northwestern two-thirds of the North Barito Regency. The capital of the regency is the town of Puruk Cahu. The regency covers an area of 23,700 km2 and had a population of 96,857 inhabitants at the 2010 censusBiro Pusat Statistik, Jakarta, 2011. North Barito Regency
North Barito Regency () is one of the thirteen regencies which divide the Central Kalimantan Province on the island of Kalimantan, Indonesia. It originally included much more of the northern part of the province, but on 10 April 2002 the larger northwestern part of the regency was split off to create a new Murung Raya Regency. Muara Teweh (in Teweh Tengah District) is the capital of North Barito Regency, which covers an area of 10,152.25 km2. Shorea
Fruit of a ''Shorea'' species ''Shorea'' is a genus of about 47 species of mainly rainforest trees in the family Dipterocarpaceae. The timber of trees of the genus is sold under the common names lauan, luan, lawaan, meranti, seraya, balau, bangkirai, and Philippine mahogany. Description The tallest documented tropical angiosperm is a '' Shorea faguetiana'' found in the Danum Valley Conservation Area, in Sabah, Malaysia (Borneo). Eusideroxylon Zwageri
''Eusideroxylon'' is a genus of evergreen trees of the family Lauraceae. The genus is monotypic, and includes one accepted species, ''Eusideroxylon zwageri''. It is known colloquially in English as Bornean ironwood, billian, or ulin. It is native to Borneo and Sumatra, where it grows in lowland rain forests. ''Eusideroxylon'' are hardwood trees reaching up to 50 metres in height with trunks over in diameter, producing commercially valuable timber. The wood of ''E. zwageri'' is impervious to termites, and can last up to 100 years after being cut. Due to extensive logging, it is listed as vulnerable in the IUCN Red List. Orangutan
Orangutans are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia. They are now found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra, but during the Pleistocene they ranged throughout Southeast Asia and South China.
