Murray Hill Station (NJ Transit)
Murray Hill is a New Jersey Transit station along the Gladstone Branch of the Morris and Essex Lines in the Murray Hill section of New Providence, in Union County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on Foley Place, between Floral Avenue and Southgate Road. History The Queen Anne-style station house was built in 1890 by the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. The identifying stylistic features of the station are the hipped roof with broadly-flared eaves which are supported by dramatic, oversized, decorative wooden brackets, the patterning of the horizontal exterior wood siding and vertical corner boards and multi-paned double-hung sash windows. The building lacks the lavish embellishment typical of Queen Anne buildings, however, and possesses a simplicity attributable to the Stick Style, an architectural trend that immediately pre-dated the rise in popularity of the Queen Anne fashion in the late nineteenth century. The building has been listed in the New Jers ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Railway Stations On The National Register Of Historic Places In New Jersey
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport using wheeled vehicles running in tracks, which usually consist of two parallel steel rails. Rail transport is one of the two primary means of land transport, next to road transport. It is used for about 8% of passenger and freight transport globally, thanks to its energy efficiency and potentially high speed.Rolling stock on rails generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, allowing rail cars to be coupled into longer trains. Power is usually provided by diesel or electric locomotives. While railway transport is capital-intensive and less flexible than road transport, it can carry heavy loads of passengers and cargo with greater energy efficiency and safety. Precursors of railways driven by human or animal power have existed since antiquity, but modern rail transport began with the invention of the steam locomotive in the United Kingdom at the beginning of the 19th c ... NJ Transit Rail Operations provides passenger service on 12 lines at a total of 165 stations, some operated in conjunction with Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad. NJ Transit Rail Operations was established by NJ Transit to run commuter rail operations in New Jersey. Soon after its creation, NJT commissioned a survey of operating stations, 53 of which were eventually nominated and listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places, state and National Register of Historic Places, federal registers of historic places in 1984. Since 2009, NJ Transit is a stakeholder in the state's "smart growth" transit-oriented development initiatives, its transit hubs forming the basis for tran ... Waiting Room
A waiting room or waiting hall is a building, or more commonly a part of a building or a room, where people sit or stand until the event or appointment for which they are waiting begins. There are two types of physical waiting room. One has individuals leave for appointments one at a time or in small groups, for instance at a doctor's office, a hospital triage area, or outside a school headmaster's office. The other has people leave en masse such as those at railway stations, bus stations, and airports. Both examples also highlight the difference between waiting rooms in which one is asked to wait (private waiting rooms) and waiting rooms in which one can enter at will (public waiting rooms). There are also digital waiting rooms that operate within on-line video conferencing applications such as Zoom developed by Zoom Video Communications. This is a virtual waiting room where participants can be held until such time as the host allows them to enter the meeting. Order in pr ... Train Ticket
A train ticket is a transit pass ticket issued by a railway operator that enables the bearer to travel on the operator's network or a partner's network. Tickets can authorize the bearer to travel a set itinerary at a specific time (common for long-distance railroads), a set itinerary at any time (common for commuter railroads), a set itinerary at multiple times, or an arbitrary itinerary at specific times. The last two categories are often called ''passes'': the former is often sold as a discounted block of trips for commuters; the latter is often sold to vacationers, such as European Eurail passes. In some countries, like Italy, and some local railways in Germany, conductors are not used. Instead passengers are expected to validate tickets in a special stamping machine before entering the train. A system of coupons that are validated with a special machine exists on the Mumbai Suburban Railway where combinations of coupons of denominations are used to get the correspondi ...
