The Murphyverse is the unofficial name given to a Line (comics), line of American comic books created by writer/artist Sean Murphy (artist), Sean Murphy, and published by DC Comics under its DC Black Label, Black Label imprint. Sean Murphy (artist)
Sean Gordon Murphy (born 1980) is an American comic book writer and artist known for work on books such as '' Joe the Barbarian'' with Grant Morrison, ''Chrononauts'' with Mark Millar, '' American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest'' and ''The Wake'' with Scott Snyder, '' Tokyo Ghost'' with Rick Remender, and the miniseries '' Punk Rock Jesus''. He is also the creator of the Murphyverse, a collection of stories about Batman that is separate from the main DC Universe. Murphyverse titles include '' Batman: White Knight'' and its sequels '' Curse of the White Knight'' and '' Beyond the White Knight'', which Murphy wrote and illustrated. Early life Sean Gordon Murphy was born in Nashua, New Hampshire in late 1980. He showed an interest in comics during grade school. Curse Of The White Knight
''Batman: White Knight'' is an American comic book published by DC Comics. The eight-issue limited series, written and illustrated by Sean Murphy, began monthly publication in October 2017 and concluded in May 2018. In the series, the Joker is seemingly cured of his madness and sets out to become a politician under his real name of Jack Napier, seeking to change his public image as a "villain" and save Gotham City from Batman, whom he views as the real enemy of the city. A sequel titled '' Batman: Curse of the White Knight'' ran from July 24, 2019 to March 25, 2020. A second sequel, '' Batman: Beyond the White Knight'', began publication on March 29, 2022 and concluded on February 14, 2023. DC Black Label
DC Black Label (also referred to simply as Black Label) is an imprint of American comic book publisher DC Comics consisting of original miniseries and reprints of books previously published under other imprints. The imprint intends to present traditional DC Universe characters for a mature audience with stand-alone Prestige Format series. The first title of the imprint, '' Batman: Damned'', was released on September 19, 2018. Publication history Single issues of comic books that are issued under the ''Black Label'' line will be published in Prestige Format. Matt Hollingsworth
Matt Hollingsworth (born 1968, in California) is an American comic book colorist. As of 2023, he was continuing to color comics for Marvel including such notable titles as Guardian of the Galaxy, Punisher and Doctor Strange. He lives in Croatia. Biography Hollingsworth graduated from The Kubert School in 1991 and began getting regular work from Marvel Comics and DC Comics. In 1993, he was hired to the Dark Horse Comics staff as head of the painted art department. After a year, he returned to freelance work and helped launch the award-winning ''Preacher'' from DC's Vertigo imprint. Ultimate Marvel, later known as Ultimate Comics, was an imprint of comic books published by Marvel Comics, featuring reimagined and modernized versions of the company's superhero characters from the Ultimate Marvel Universe, later known as the Ultimate Universe.
