Droupadi Murmu (born Durgi Biranchi Tudu; 20 June 1958) is an Indian politician who has been serving as the president of India since 2022. Sidhu Kanhu
Sido Murmu and Kanhu Murmu were Indian freedom fighters and brothers who led the Santhal Rebellion (1855–1856), an uprising that took place in present-day Jharkhand and parts of Bengal, including Purulia, Birbhum, and Bankura, in eastern India. The rebellion was aimed at resisting British colonial rule and the exploitative zamindari system. Rebellion Santals lived in and depended on forests. In 1832, the British demarcated the Damin-i-koh region in present-day Jharkhand and invited Santhals to settle in the region. Due to promises of land and economic amenities a large numbers of Santhals came to settle from Cuttack, Dhalbhum, Manbhum, Hazaribagh, Midnapore etc. Soon, mahajans and zamindars as tax-collecting intermediaries deployed by British dominated the economy. The Santal (or Santhal) are an Austroasiatic languages, Austroasiatic-speaking Munda peoples, Munda ethnic group of the Indian subcontinent. Chandrani Murmu (born 16 June 1993) is an Indian politician. She was elected to the Lok Sabha, lower house of the Parliament of India from Keonjhar, Odisha in the 2019 Indian general election as a member of the Biju Janata Dal. Chami Murmu (born in 1973) is an Indian environmental activist and is known for planting trees in India. She had planted 2,500,000 trees in India till she was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2019. Santhal Rebellion
The Sonthal Rebellion, also known as the Santhal Rebellion, Santal Rebellion, or Santhal Hool, was a rebellion in present-day Jharkhand against the East India Company (EIC) and zamindari system by the Santals. It started on 30 June 1855, and on 10 November 1855, martial law was proclaimed by the East India Company which lasted until 3 January 1856, when martial law was suspended and the rebellion was eventually suppressed by the presidency armies. Bhagwat Murmu also known as ''Bhagwat Murmu Thakur'' (28 February 1928 – 30 June 1998) was an Indian politician belonged to Indian National Congress and Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly, 1957–1962. He was born into the Santal family in the village of Bela, located in the Khera block of Jamui district in Bihar, India.
