Mikio Murai (, 28 April 1952 – 16 April 2022), professionally known as Mio Murao () was a Japanese manga artist and writer, active for about 50 years. Life and career Born in Tokushima, Murao started his career as an assistant of Kimio Yanagisawa, and made his official debut as a mangaka in 1972 with ''Kappa Love Love Daisakusen'' (別冊少年ジャンプ), which was published in '' Bessatsu Shōnen Jump''. In 1974, he was awarded the Tezuka Award for ''Twin Banzai''. Murao had his breakout in the early 1980s, with the rabu-kome (romantic comedy) series ''Munasawagi no Houkago'', ''Kekkon Game'' and ''Binetsu My Love'', which were serialized in ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'' and ''GORO'' and had multiple film and television adaptations. Shigeyoshi "Shig" Murao (村尾 重芳, ''Murao Shigeyoshi'', b. December 8, 1926 – d. October 18, 1999) was a Japanese-American bookseller who is mainly remembered as the City Lights manager and clerk who was arrested on June 3, 1957, for selling Allen Ginsberg's ''Howl'' to an undercover San Francisco police officer. In the trial that followed, Murao was charged with selling the book and Lawrence Ferlinghetti with publishing it. Murao and Ferlinghetti were exonerated, and ''Howl'' was judged protected under the First Amendment, a decision that paved the way for the publication of Henry Miller, D. H. Lawrence, William Burroughs, and many other writers who offended the sensibilities of the majority. Murao People
Muraos are a community of agriculturists found in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. They are also known as Maurya. They form a part of a wider community called the Kushwaha, which includes Koeri and Kachhi castes. The All India Kushwaha Kshatriya Mahasabha is an organisation of these sub-castes, which also represents the interests of the Murao community. In Uttar Pradesh, a section of the community called Kunjra amongst Muslims, classified as an Other Backward Class, was formed due to conversion of Muraos to Islam. The Kunjra are also called ''Sabj Farosh'' and like Muraos, they grew vegetables. In recent times, the community produced educated individuals engaged in white collar jobs.
