Munaza Sheikh
''Munaza Sheikh'' is a former Pakistani film actress. She is known for her supporting roles in the movies ''Deewani Disco Di'' (1989), ''Shani'' (1989), '' Sher Dil'' (1990), and ''Zid'' (1991). In 1990, she won the best supporting actress Nigar Award. Career Sheikh started her film career in 1986 in the Urdu film ''Miss Bangkok'', directed by Iqbal Akhtar. In 1989, she was paired with Ismael Shah in a lead role in Ejaz Hussain's Punjabi movie ''Dewani Disco Di''. Her last film ''Ruqqa'' was released in 1993. The Nigar Awards () were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema, after having been revived in 2017 following a 15-year absence. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honor the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1956. In 2002, following the 46th Annual Nigar Awards, Nigar Magazine announced its discontinuation of the awards due to the collapse of the Pakistani cinema industry. After a 15-year hiatus, with the revival of Pakistani cinema, the 47th Nigar Awards were announced to be held on 16 March 2017 in Karachi. ''Shaani'' or ''Shanee'' is a 1989 Pakistani science fiction film directed by Saeed Rizvi and starring Babra Sharif, Sheri Malik, Asif Khan, Saeed Rizvi and Mohammad Ali. The film is famous for its special effects which were first used in Pakistan. Plot ''Shanee'' begins with a glowing space ship that arrives in the middle of the forest near a village. A glowing figure appears and follows a terrified Heena (Babra Sharif) to her house where he decides to assume the appearance of a young man (Sheri Malik) he happens to view in a lovingly framed photograph. He is greeted with open arms by the villagers, especially by a blushing Heena and her family. Unknown to the spaceman, he has assumed the appearance of Shanee, the man who Heena was due to marry and who was supposedly brutally murdered by a villainous goon by the name of Shamsher Khan (Asif Khan).
