Anna Isabel Mulford
Anna Isabel Mulford ( – June 16, 1943) was an American botanist and teacher. Education Mulford was born in East Orange, New Jersey, and graduated Vassar College with an A.B., A.M. in 1886. In St. Louis, Missouri, she enrolled in the Shaw School of Botany at Washington University and in 1895, she was the first student to earn a Ph.D. (a faculty member had done so three years before). Mulford's doctoral dissertation described her research on agave plants in the U.S. In the course of her studies, she discovered several new species and, subsequently, some of them were named after her. Mulford Expedition
The Mulford Biological Exploration of the Amazon Basin was a scientific expedition to the Amazon conducted in 1921. It was organized by Henry Hurd Rusby, who at age 64, was a well known explorer, a professor at Columbia University, and a staff member at the New York Botanical Garden. He hired Orland Emile White, a staff member at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, to assist with collection and handling of plant specimens. The expedition was financed by the H. K. Mulford Company, a pharmaceutical company. Its mission was to explore the Amazon Valley from the headwaters of the Quime River in Bolivia to the mouth of the Amazon River in Brazil. The expedition left La Paz, Bolivia, in July 1921. Rusby was forced to leave the expedition due to neuritis, an infected tooth, and his age; however, White and Martín Cárdenas continued to collect. The Mulford Building is an historic, American, light manufacturing, loft building that is located in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. Mulford Act
The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill that prohibited public carrying of loaded firearms without a permit. Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, and signed into law by governor of California Ronald Reagan, the bill was crafted with the goal of disarming members of the Black Panther Party who were conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods, in what would later be termed copwatching. They garnered national attention after Black Panthers members, bearing arms, marched upon the California State Capitol to protest the bill. Assembly Bill 1591 was introduced by Don Mulford (R) from Oakland on April 5, 1967, and subsequently co-sponsored by John T. Knox (D) from Richmond, Walter J. Mulford Farm in East Hampton, Long Island, New York, is one of America's most significant, intact English colonial farmsteads. The farmhouse was built in 1680 by High Sheriff Josiah Hobart, an important early official of the first New York Royal Province government. Mulford Landing is a neighborhood in San Leandro in Alameda County, California. Originally known as Wicks Landing, the landing at San Leandro was founded in 1853 by Moses Wicks, Thomas W. Mulford, Eliphalet M. Smith, and William Smith. They made a living by selling wildfowl, which was trapped in the Rancho San Leandro and transported from their landing across the Bay to San Francisco. Mulford, who had come to California in 1849, bought the others out in 1868. The Mulford station on the South Pacific Coast railway line between Alameda Point and Newark took its original name from this. It was later renamed the West San Leandro station when the Southern Pacific Railroad Company bought the line in 1887. Thomas W.
