Mulcahy Redmond was a textile company at the Ardfinnan Woollen Mills that traded as ''Ardfinnan'' on the underlying banks of Ardfinnan Castle, County Tipperary, Ireland. Established 1869 as a vertical mills it was known for tweed and worsted suitings, later tailoring ready-made suits on-site as the only Irish factory completing all stages of processing from sheep to clothing. History Early history John Mulcahy established ''Mulcahy, Redmond & Co.'' woollen mills in 1869 on the underlying banks of Ardfinnan Castle on the River Suir. A Justice of the Peace in Cork, John inherited the industrial legacy of Dripsey woollen mills and Glanworth woollen mills, among others. The early industrial investment at Dripsey paralleled that of nearby Blarney Woollen Mills and laid the foundations for the success at Ardfinnan when the Mulcahy family transferred operations to the new location. Ardfinnan Castle, is a castle built in 1185 in Ireland, 1185 with its sister Lismore Castle, by the river crossing at Ardfinnan (''Ard Fhíonáin'' in Irish) in County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is situated on the River Suir, four miles south of Cahir and seven miles west of Clonmel. One of the earliest Anglo-Normans, Norman castles in Ireland, it represents the oldest castle built by the House of Plantagenet, Plantagenets in Ireland. The castle is currently privately owned and is not open for public viewing. The Anglo-Normans, Anglo-Norman castle is positioned on a large rocky incline above a Ford (crossing), ford in the river, looking out over the Suir valley with the Knockmealdown Mountains to the south, and the Galtee Mountains to the northwest.
