Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt (born 3 February 1998) is a gold medalist weightlifter from Gujranwala, Pakistan. He won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Personal life Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt was born on February 3, 1998, in Gujranwala. He belongs to a prominent weightlifting family of Kashmiri ancestry. His father Ghulam Dastgir Butt, who also participated in international weightlifting events, coaches Nooh, whose brother Hanzala Dastgir Butt is also a weightlifter who participated in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Career Pakistan’s renowned weightlifter Nooh Dastgir Butt clinched the gold medal in the Hercules Columns competition at the Pahlavon Mahmud Strongman Games 2024 in Uzbekistan. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. Clean And Jerk
The clean and jerk is a composite of two weightlifting movements, most often performed with a barbell: the clean and the jerk. During the ''clean'', the lifter moves the barbell from the floor to a racked position across the deltoids, without resting fully on the clavicles. During the ''jerk'', the lifter raises the barbell to a stationary position above the head, finishing with straight arms and legs, and the feet in the same plane as the torso and barbell. Snatch (weightlifting)
The snatch is the first of two lifts contested in the sport of weightlifting (also known as Olympic weightlifting) followed by the clean and jerk. The objective of the snatch is to lift the barbell from the ground to overhead in one continuous motion. There are four main styles of snatch used: snatch (or full snatch), split snatch, power snatch, and muscle snatch. The full lift is the most common style used in competition, while power snatches and muscle snatches are mostly used for training purposes, and split snatches are rarely used. Any of these lifts can be performed from the floor, from the hang position, or from blocks. In competition, only lifts from the floor are allowed.
