Muhammad Avais Dastgir
Muhammad Avais Dastgir, is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army, currently serving as the Corps Commander of V Corps (Karachi), since January 2025. He previously served as Chief of General Staff (CGS) at the GHQ, one of the most influential positions in the army hierarchy. Military career Dastgir was commissioned into the 58th Cavalry of the Pakistan Armoured Corps. His early roles included instructional and command positions within the Armoured Corps. He later became the Director General Military Operations (DGMO), a key operational post at GHQ. He was promoted to the rank of Major general in 2019. In November 2023, upon his promotion to the rank of lieutenant general, he was appointed as CGS, replacing Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed. Lieutenant General (Pakistan)
Lieutenant General is a Three-star rank, three-star army officer rank in the Pakistan Army. It is equivalent to a vice admiral in the Pakistan Navy and an air marshal in the Pakistan Air Force. A lieutenant general is also called a three-star General (Pakistan), general. Like other armies, this rank is higher than a major general and lower than a full general. There are currently 30 Lieutenant Generals in the Pakistan Army, with each usually presiding over a corps. The Pakistan Army has followed the British Army rank system since its independence from the British Empire in 1947. Pakistan Military Academy
Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) is a military academy located nearby Kakul village in Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Established in October 1947, it is the only service academy in Pakistan that trains cadets to serve as army officers. For educational training, the institution is accredited by the National University of Sciences & Technology. The PMA hosts approximately 2,000 guests representing over 34 countries annually. The academy also enrols cadets from Pakistan's allied countries that send their cadets and officers to PMA to receive training. Li Qiaoming (; born April 1961) is a general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), currently serving as commander of the People's Liberation Army Ground Force, PLA Ground Force. The General Headquarters (abbreviated Army GHQ) is the direct reporting and the command post of the Pakistan Army, located in the Chaklala at the vicinity of Rawalpindi, adjacent to the Joint Staff Headquarters (JS HQ). History In 1851, the British Army in India made an permanent headquarter in Rawalpindi when Marquess of Dalhousie decided to stationed the 53rd Infantry Regiment to protect India from Afghan intervention.
