Mufleh R. Osmany
Mufleh R. Osmany ( bn, মুফলেহ আর ওসমানী) is a former foreign secretary of Bangladesh and diplomat. He is the president of Anjuman Mufidul Islam. He is a former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations and other Offices in Geneva. He is a former High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada. His cousin, Muhammad Ataul Ghani Osmani, was the first chief of staff of the Bangladesh Army. Career Osmany served as the principal of the Foreign Service Academy from 1983 to 1984. Osmany served as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations and other Offices in Geneva in 1991 and 1992. From 13 December 1993 to 9 February 1995, Osmany served as the foreign secretary of Bangladesh in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Foreign Secretary is the most senior diplomat and governmental, non-political official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Bangladesh), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Government of Bangladesh. The holder of the post heads all functions of their ministry, including the Foreign Service (also called Diplomatic Service) and reports to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Bangladesh), Foreign Minister, who is the most senior political figure with responsibilities for Foreign Affairs. Anjuman Mufidul Islam
Anjuman Mufidul Islam ( bn, আঞ্জুমান মফিদুল ইসলাম ''Beneficial Assembly of Islam'') is a Bangladeshi welfare organisation specially designed to enrich the livelihood of orphans and the distressed. History Sheikh Ibrahim Mohammed Dupley, a resident of Surat, formed Anjuman Mufidul Islam in Kolkata in 1905. Khawaja Nazimuddin, A. K. Fazlul Huq, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy successfully directed the activities of this organisation as its president. After the Partition of India in 1947, the Anjuman's chief administrative officer SM Salahuddin along with officials such as Abdul Haque Faridi managed to set up a branch in SK Das Road, Gandaria, Dhaka in September 1947. Faridi was made the first president of Dhaka's Anjuman serving from 1947 to 1949. In 1950, the Anjuman became an independent organisation. Muhammad Ataul Goni Osmani ( bn, মুহাম্মদ আতাউল গণি ওসমানী; 1 September 1918 – 16 February 1984), also known as ''Bangabir'' (the Hero of Bengal), was a Bengali military leader. Osmani's career spanned five decades, beginning with service in the British Indian Army in 1939. He fought in the Burma Campaign during World War II. After the partition of India in 1947, he joined the Pakistan Army and served in the East Bengal Regiment, retiring as a colonel in 1967.
