Álvaro Brechner
Álvaro Brechner (born April 9, 1976 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan film director, writer and producer that lives in Spain. He has written and directed three feature films, ''Bad Day to Go Fishing'' (''Mal Día Para Pescar''), '' Mr. Kaplan'' and '' A Twelve-Year Night'' (''La Noche de 12 Años''). His films have been selected in several festivals such as Cannes Film Festival and Venice Film Festival. All three of his films have been chosen as Uruguay's official selection for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Biography He attended the Catholic University of Uruguay where he obtained a degree in Media Studies. In 1999 he earned a master's degree in creative documentary at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain. Uruguay has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film regularly since 2001. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non- English dialogue. Uruguay, represented by Cinemateca Uruguaya, submitted drama '' A Place in the World'' to AMPAS in the fall of 1992. On 3 December 1992, AMPAS included the film on its list of official submissions and it was screened alongside 32 other films for AMPAS' Foreign Language Film Committee. On 17 February 1993, it was announced that the film had been nominated for an Oscar, representing Uruguay. This is a list of submissions to the 87th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of a number of countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. It is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length film produced outside the United States with primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process, reviewing all films submitted. For the 87th Academy Awards, held on 22 February 2015, a submitted motion picture must be released theatrically in its respective country between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014. Héctor Eugenio Noguera Illanes (born July 8, 1937 in Santiago), is a Chilean television, theatre and film actor, and also a theatre director. Noguera is the son of Héctor Noguera Prieto (grandson of José Joaquín Prieto Vial and Yolanda Illanes Benítez. He studied at Colegio San Ignacio school and graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He was married to Isidora Portales and they had two daughters, Amparo and Piedad.
