MozillaZine is a discontinued unofficial Mozilla website that provided information about Mozilla products including Firefox browser, Thunderbird email client, and related software (SeaMonkey, Camino, Calendar and Mobile). The site used to host an active community support internet forum, and a community-driven knowledge base of information about Mozilla products, but as of 2019 the site was not being maintained anymore. The site is still online in read-only mode. History The site was founded by Chris Nelson on September 1, 1998, just a few months after mozilla.org, which was created on February 23, 1998, and quickly grew in popularity. Improvements were added to the site and it soon moved to the mozillazine.org domain. Originally, the site's main audience was Mozilla developers, both Netscape employees and outsiders, but it soon attracted interested observers and end users. Mozilla Firefox, or simply Firefox, is a free and open-source web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation. SeaMonkey
SeaMonkey is a free and open-source Internet suite. It is the continuation of the former Mozilla Application Suite, based on the same source code, which itself grew out of Netscape Communicator and formed the base of Netscape 6 and Netscape 7. SeaMonkey was created in 2005 after the Mozilla Foundation decided to focus on the standalone projects Firefox and Thunderbird. The development of SeaMonkey is community-driven, in contrast to the Mozilla Application Suite, which until its last released version (1.7.13) was governed by the Mozilla Foundation. The new project-leading group is called the ''SeaMonkey Council''. mozdev.org was a website that offered free project hosting, and software development tools to the Mozilla community. Site hosted extensions for Firefox, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey and stand-alone Mozilla-based applications. It was free to set up a project there, but all development must have been done using a license approved by the OSI. According to the site, at one point it hosted over 250 active projects.
