Mount Weyant
The Newall Glacier () is a glacier in the east part of the Asgard Range of Victoria Land, It flows east between Mount Newall and Mount Weyant into the Wilson Piedmont Glacier. The Newall Glacier was mapped by the N.Z. Northern Survey Party of the CTAE, 1956-58, who named it after nearby Mount Newall. Location The Newall Glacier forms to the east of the Lacroix Glacier, which flows south into Taylor Valley. It flows northeast, past the head of Suess Glacier, past Mount Valkyrie to the west and Mount Weyant to the east. It turns east and is joined by the Loftus Glacier below Mount Newall. It continues east past the head of Commonwealth Glacier and joins with Wright Lower Glacier as it flows into Wilson Piedmont Glacier. Ross Dependency
The Ross Dependency is a region of Antarctica defined by a sector originating at the South Pole, passing along longitudes 160° east to 150° west, and terminating at latitude 60° south. It is claimed by New Zealand, a claim accepted only by the other six countries with territorial claims in Antarctica. Under the 1961 Antarctic Treaty, of which all territorial claimants are signatories, including New Zealand, all claims are held in abeyance. Article IV states: "No acts or activities taking place while the present Treaty is in force shall constitute a basis for asserting, supporting or denying a claim to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica or create any rights of sovereignty in Antarctica". The Dependency takes its name from Sir James Clark Ross, who discovered the Ross Sea, and includes part of Victoria Land, and most of the Ross Ice Shelf. Bartley Glacier
Bartley Glacier () is a hanging glacier on the south wall of Wright Valley in the Asgard Range of Victoria Land, just west of Meserve Glacier. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for construction driver Ollie B. Bartley, U.S. Navy, who was killed on January 14, 1957 when the vehicle (weasel) he was driving dropped through the sea ice at Hut Point, McMurdo Sound. Mount Newall () is a peak, 1,920 m, the northeast extremity of Asgard Range, in Victoria Land. The Wright Valley, named for Sir Charles Wright, is the central one of the three large Dry Valleys in the Transantarctic Mountains, located west of McMurdo Sound at approximately . McMurdo Station McMurdo Station is a United States Antarctic research station on the south tip of Ross Island, which is in the New Zealand-claimed Ross Dependency on the shore of McMurdo Sound in Antarctica.
