Mount Tabor
Mount Tabor ( ; ; ), sometimes spelled Mount Thabor, is a large hill of biblical significance in Lower Galilee, Northern District (Israel), northern Israel, at the eastern end of the Jezreel Valley, west of the Sea of Galilee. In the Hebrew Bible (Book of Joshua, Joshua, Book of Judges, Judges), Mount Tabor is the site of the Battle of Mount Tabor (biblical), battle of Mount Tabor between the Israelite army under the leadership of Barak and the army of the Canaanite king of Tel Hazor, Hazor, Jabin, commanded by Sisera. In Christian tradition, Mount Tabor is the site of the transfiguration of Jesus. Lower Galilee
The Lower Galilee (; ) is a region within the Northern District of Israel. The Lower Galilee is bordered by the Jezreel Valley to the south; the Upper Galilee to the north, from which it is separated by the Beit HaKerem Valley; the Jordan Rift Valley with the Jordan River and the Sea of Galilee to the east; and to the west, a segment of the Northern Coastal Plain known as the Zvulun Valley ( Zebulon Valley), stretching between the Carmel ridge and Acre. The Lower Galilee is the southern part of the Galilee. In Josephus' time, it was known to stretch in breadth from Xaloth ( Iksal) to Bersabe, and in length from Cabul to Tiberias, a region that contains around 470 km2. Henry Alford (theologian)
Henry Alford (7 October 181012 January 1871) was an English churchman, theologian, Textual Criticism, textual critic, scholar, poet, hymnodist, and writer. Life Alford was born at 25 Alfred Place, Bedford Square, London of a Somerset, Somersetshire family, which had given five consecutive generations of clergymen to the Anglican church. Alford's early years were passed with his widowed father, who was curate of Steeple Ashton in Wiltshire. He was a precocious lad, and before he was ten had written several Latin odes, a history of the Jews and a series of homiletic outlines. After a peripatetic school course he went up to Cambridge in 1827 as a scholar of Trinity College, Cambridge, Trinity in 1827. In Eastern Orthodox Christian theology, the Tabor Light ( "Light of Tabor", or "Uncreated Light", "Divine Light"; "Taboric Light"; Georgian: თაბორის ნათება) is the light revealed on Mount Tabor at the Transfiguration of Jesus, identified with the light seen by Paul at his conversion.
