Mount Pearl Jr. Blades
The Mount Pearl Jr. Blades are a Canadian Junior ice hockey club from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. They are members of the St. John's Junior Hockey League, are a former Junior A team, and won the Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B championship in 1986. History Prior to 1980, junior hockey in St. John's was for the most part a Juvenile-level recreation league. Every year, an all-star team was drafted from the city and named the St. John's Jr. Capitals, after their senior team the St. John's Capitals, to compete against teams from across the province for the Veitch Memorial Trophy at either the Junior A or B level. In 1980, the St. John's Junior Hockey League was organized and a legitimate Junior B league was formed. Mount Pearl is the third-largest settlement and second-largest city in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The city is located southwest of St. John's, on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland. The Sackville Blazers are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. The Blazers play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are the only team in history to have won three consecutive Don Johnson Cups as Maritime Junior B Champions. History The Sackville Blazers became a reality for the 1982/83 season. This came after seven years of hard work to gain entry into Junior hockey for Sackville. Starting with the 1997/98 season, the Blazers have had a continuous run of finishing first overall season after season. The Sackville Blazers' Maritime dynasty began with the 2002–03 season. After winning the NSJBHL Championship, the Blazers went on to the Don Johnson Cup. The Valley Wildcats are a Canadian junior ice hockey franchise from the Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia. The team is a member of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League and plays in the EastLink Division. They play their home games in the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick, Nova Scotia. History The Antigonish Bulldogs were founded in 1967 as members of the Antigonish-Pictou-Colchester Junior B Hockey League. After two seasons the league became the Northumberland Junior B Hockey League. In 1974, the Bulldogs became a founding member of what became the Eastern Junior A Hockey League, but returned to the Northumberland League in 1975. The East Hants Penguins are a Junior ice hockey team from East Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Penguins play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League and are the 2007 Don Johnson Cup Maritime Junior B Champions. History The Penguins were founded in 2000, but East Hants has a history that dates back decades in junior hockey. The Western Red Wings (officially the Arsenault's Fish Mart Western Red Wings due to sponsorship reasons) are a Canadian Junior B ice hockey team located in Abrams Village, Prince Edward Island.
