Description Mount Millicent is located southeast of downtown Salt Lake City at the Brighton Ski Resort in the Wasatch–Cache National Forest. The peak is set in the Wasatch Range which is a subset of the Rocky Mountains. Precipitation runoff from the mountain's slopes drains into headwaters of Big Cottonwood Creek. Topographic relief is significant as the summit rises above Brighton in one mile (1.6 km). The mountain is composed of granodiorite of the igneous Alta stock. This mountain's toponym has been officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Granodiorite () is a coarse-grained ( phaneritic) intrusive igneous rock similar to granite, but containing more plagioclase feldspar than orthoclase feldspar. The term banatite is sometimes used informally for various rocks ranging from granite to diorite, including granodiorite. Composition According to the QAPF diagram, granodiorite has a greater than 20% quartz by volume, and between 65% and 90% of the feldspar is plagioclase. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems.
