Mount Issa
Mount Issa or Djebel Aïssa ( ar, جبل عيسى) is a 2,236 m high mountain in western Algeria, thus the 4th highest in Algeria. It is part of the Ksour Range of the Saharan Atlas, within the larger Atlas Mountain System. Mount Issa is located in the Naâma Province and is one of the main summits of the mountains of the Saharan Atlas. The Djebel Aissa National Park is a protected area within the area of the mountain since 2003. Ksour Range
The Ksour Range or Kçour Range ( ar, جبال القصور, french: Monts des Ksour or ''Djebel Ksour'') is a mountain range in Algeria. Stretching across the provinces of Béchar and El Bayadh, it is the westernmost range of the Saharan Atlas, with the Amour Range further east. Geography The range extends between Figuig Province in the Oriental Region of Morocco near the Moroccan/Algerian border and El Bayadh municipality in Algeria. The range pattern continues westwards as the High Atlas. The highest summit of the range is 2,236 m high Mount Issa or ''Djebel Aïssa'' (جبل عيسى). Rock art Neolithic art, in the form of engraved stones representing horses, elephants and other animals, is found in different caves and walls throughout the range (such as at Thyout). Djebel Aissa National Park
Djebel Aissa National Park (in Arabic: الحظيرة الوطنية لجبل عيسى) is a national park of the Saharan Atlas located to the west of Algeria, in the wilaya of Naâma. It was created in 2003 and covers 24400 hectares. Djebel Aissa National Park is of particular importance in preserving the ecosystem of the Western Highlands region, which is threatened by desertification and silting. Flora and fauna Flora The most represented trees are: the Ziziphus, the Pistacia, the Juniperus phoenicea, the Quercus ilex, the Juniperus oxycedrus and the Pinus halepensis. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values.
