Mount Guiwan is a mountain in the Sierra Madre range in Alfonso Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. It is probably the highest peak of Sierra Madre mountain range with a height of above sea level according to NAMRIA topographic map. Alfonso Castañeda
Alfonso Castañeda, officially the Municipality of Alfonso Castañeda ( ilo, Ili ti Alfonso Castañeda; tl, Bayan ng Alfonso Castañeda), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 8,539 people. Alfonso Castañeda is from Bayombong via Nueva Ecija and Dalton Pass and from Manila. History In the 1930s, the Bugkalots inhabited Lublub, then a sitio of Barangay Marikit. In 1950, it became an independent barangay of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija. Sierra Madre (Philippines)
The Sierra Madre is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. Spanning over , it runs from the province of Cagayan down to the province of Quezon, forming a north–south direction on the eastern portion of Luzon, the largest island of the archipelago. Bugkalot
The Bugkalot (also Ilongot or Ibilao) are a tribe inhabiting the southern Sierra Madre and Caraballo Mountains, on the east side of Luzon in the Philippines, primarily in the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Ecija and along the mountain border between the provinces of Quirino and Aurora. They are also commonly referred to as "Ilongot", especially in older studies, but nowadays, the endonym Bugkalot is preferred in modern ethnic research. They were formerly headhunters. Casecnan Protected Landscape
The Casecnan Protected Landscape is a protected area in the Casecnan River watershed of eastern Luzon in the Philippines. It has a total area of straddling the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Aurora. The Casecnan River Watershed Forest Reserve was established in August 1987 by virtue of Executive Order No. 136 issued by President Corazon Aquino. In April 2000, the forest reserve was enlarged to and was reclassified as a protected landscape area through Proclamation No. 289. It is considered one of the last remaining substantial water sources for the region of Central Luzon.
