Mount Champion
Mount Champion is a mountain summit in Lake County, Colorado, United States. Description Mount Champion is set east of the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range which is a subrange of the Rocky Mountains. The mountain is located east of the community of Aspen on land managed by San Isabel National Forest. Mount Champion can be seen from State Highway 82 at Independence Pass. It ranks as the 173rd-highest peak in Colorado. Precipitation runoff from the mountain's slopes drains into tributaries of the Arkansas River. In mountaineering in the United States, a thirteener (abbreviated 13er) is a mountain that exceeds above mean sea level, similar to the more familiar "fourteeners," which exceed . In most instances, "thirteeners" refers only to those peaks between 13,000 and 13,999 feet in elevation. The importance of thirteeners is greatest in Colorado, which has the majority of such peaks in North America with over 600 of them. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems.
