Mount Barker Football Club
The Mount Barker Football Club is an Australian rules football club located in Mount Barker, Western Australia. Nicknamed the Bulls, the club plays in the Great Southern Football League, with home games originally being hosted at Frost Oval (''aka'' Frost Park) in Mount Barker but changed to Sounness Park in 2015. Club history During the early 1990s both the North and South Mount Barker Football Clubs were not performing well. Two teams in a small town stretched the limited number of players. Members of the North Mount Barker Football Club (the ''Demons'') approached the South Mount Barker ''Hawks'' with the proposal that both teams amalgamate to make a stronger team for the town. Talks broke down and in 1993 the Demons were wound up and the Mount Barker Football Club was formed. The Great Southern Football League is an Australian rules football league based in the state of Western Australia, incorporating teams from towns located within the Great Southern region. The league was formed in 1991 after an amalgamation of the Southern Districts (Denmark, Royals, North Mt Barker, North Albany, Railways, South Mt Barker) and Central Great Southern Football League The Central Great Southern Football League (CGSFL) was based in and around the Shire of Katanning. Mount Barker, Western Australia
Mount Barker is a town on Albany Highway and the administrative centre of the Shire of Plantagenet in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. At the 2021 census, Mount Barker had a population of 2,855. Merv Neagle
Mervyn Neagle (7 March 195823 August 2012) was an Australian rules footballer who represented and in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1970s and 1980s. Early life Neagle grew up in Dimboola, a country town in western Victoria. There he formed a lifelong friendship with future teammate Tim Watson. They played junior football and basketball, and shared a paper round. Football career Essendon Neagle joined , in 1976, preceding Watson who joined the club the following year as a 15-year-old. Both players made their senior debuts in 1977. Neagle finished second in the 1980 Brownlow Medal and equal fifth in 1981. Neagle was selected to play for Essendon in the 1983 VFL Grand Final. Aaron Sandilands (born 6 December 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 211cm/6'11" tall, and with a peak weight of , he is the second heaviest (behind Mick Nolan) and equal tallest player to ever play in the AFL. Originally from Mount Barker, Western Australia, Sandilands played with the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), before being rookie listed by Fremantle in the 2002 Rookie Draft.
